SUBIXT launching at Rob Roy Hillclimb today

Postby Ric » Sun Mar 02, 2014 10:01 pm

I don't know the owner of this Foz, and didn't get a chance to speak to him yesterday, but did get video of two of his starts.

I just found his in-car videos from yesterday.

Run 1

Run 2

Run 3 (This is the run I took from next to the timing hut. The GoPro is low on the drivers side, so you can't see me)

Run 4 (This is the run I took from behind. You can just see my legs to the left at 35 seconds into this video.)

Split1 + Split2 = Final
1: 11.75 + 15.74 = 27.49
2: 11.73 + 14.97 = 26.70
3: 11.57 + 14.44 = 26.01
4: 11.36 + 13.94 = 25.30

He beat my best time in the Liberty on his final run. (I wasn't competing yesterday, this is from Feb-2012)
Ric: 12.47 + 13.43 = 25.90

He's more than a second quicker up the first half, but I'm quicker up the second half.

What sort of speeds do cars do at this hillclimb? Very short but pretty high speeds for such a narrow track...

SUBIXT estimated he was crossing the finish line at 140.

Nice build. Posting some decent times too. Anything below 26 is very good.

Here's some logs I took on my EcuDataScan back in 2009.
viewtopic.php?p=103928#p103928
You can see I'm consistently hitting 120 twice on each run.
Once just as I cross the causeway, then the steep section washes off the speed, then I hit it again just as I cross the finish line.

Also, not surprisingly, the fastest run is the one where I keep the accelerator hard to the floor for the longest! ;)

It actually looks faster than that, but the video seems to hide the steepness. Still ridiculous though! Makes Collingrove look super safe :P

Thanks for the vids Ric!

I was there by myself so it's great to see the launch from your perspective!

Dam happy with my times, esp the improvement from the 1st to last run. She still had a lot left in her too. Final run was the only run that I chopped down into 3rd gear just before the first turn, so i backed off on the gas far more than i should have.

here is a run from Haunted Hills

First time I loaded in Shae's Launch Control and FFS tune... the grin was from ear to ear and I could clearly see it at night cause the Traction Control light was giving his face an errie glow ;)
