Kawasaki ZX10 newly painted wheels...

Postby Graphite » Tue Oct 01, 2013 9:50 pm

Must be some bikers on here... Bikes and Scoobs go together

Anyway just incase anyone is interested I got my old 1988 Kawasaki ZX10 a spruce up with a bit of paint on the wheels... Just got it back on the road after a couple of years laid up and it's great to be riding again...

Have done quick 35 mile test of bike including *ahem* motorway speeds...

First impressions... Isn't there alot of wind noise round the crash helmet???

Isn't there a lot of pressure on you as a rider at the aforementioned 'motorway' speeds  - funny how you forget

Isn't it QUICK even compared to an awesome Subaru Legacy with 3 times the horsepower :D

Doesn't it feel FANTASTIC??? !!! :)

And nothing fell off, started smoking, leaked, locked up or otherwise scared me ;)

At home before we set off having had a good bit of an engine warm up before going to fill the tank with some nice fresh V-Power.

Wanted to get an iconic shot... Failed miserably :P too much traffic and no really good places to park to get the tower in the background...

The Globe thing - another famous feature of the revamped Blackpool sea-front...

And nearly home again... our most photographed local landmark - shame about all the orange netting :) ...

The hip joints are reminding me I've been astride the bike today - better build it up gradually LOL

Wow the dayglo Kawasaki green-ish wheels are VIVID

You'll definitely stand out

I recently took the old bike for spin and my hips almost locked up trying to get my feet on the pegs........

With that paint colour, that bike almost looks like an early ZZR1100 ....... exactly 10% faster

I hope your helmet isn't as old as the bike? New helmets have come a long way these days compared to older ones, generally so much quieter and lighter! Buy yeah I know what you mean, I always wear earplugs.

F#$k yeah - I'm just getting back into riding my Gixxer regularly again after a 10 month absence (due to breaking my back) - it feels great... and seriously the power and acceleration is just mind blowing compared to the Lib.

Thanks for sharing the pics - very nice. :D

Thanks for the positive replies :D

I really feel that the bike now has a new lease of life... I just have to hope the weather stays reasonable and I get a chance to get out on it a bit more...

dawesy - I might be back to you with tech questions LOL :D

sato - yeah the helmet is pretty old AGV with funny external vent mouldings - probably don't help with the wind noise  bought it 2nd hand about 8 yrs ago...

It's still comfy - although I do get particles of crumbled padding all over my head when I take it off though

Looks good, my fave shape of the zx's. I have a baby ninja of the same shape, no where near as fast lol, but gets me around nicely :)

Thanks  (I'm assuming you are the Alex I met at the Melbourne Christmas meet at the Garage Café... - or my comments might sound strange :? )

So you're a biker as well as a Liberty turbo driver... 8)

My missus has a bike licence too - the biggest she had was a GPZ900 - It was a bit tall and heavy for her in reality - probably her favourite was a Yammy FZ600 - quite different to ride to a big Kwacka - but amazing on twisty country roads - you didn't seem to have to slow down at all for the bends

Yup that's me :) hmm now I'm hungry thinking about that place! That was a good night.
It's taking me a bit longer to take to the bike, diving has always been like second nature to me but I love riding and am getting better quite steadily.
I can only imagine that the 900 was a bit big, my ex had a zx9r and the one time I sat on it I was on my tippy toes, I would never have been able to ride it! I would like to eventually step up to a newish zx6r (a nice white one :D) but need to master city riding and get a lot more hours under my belt :)
