Just remember the risk of buying a grey import….. no warranty here in OZ.

Might be worth paying the extra coin to know you are covered.

BTW Garage 88 Is a certified reseller, picked up my Black edition there.

Yeah seems they're all grey imports and there's a few common issues with the Black edition so I'll just buy one locally :)

See if I can beat Ric's $450 :P

So here's my first videos. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL ... bYBHx6Ihw0
(You can get full 1920 x 1080 resolution if you click through to YouTube!
(FYI, I came third outright in the results. http://www.mgcc.com.au/competition/2013 ... l#OUTRIGHT
I had the 3rd quickest time on pattern #1, 6th quickest on #2, and 4th quickest on #3 :D )

The only issue I had was the battery got down to 10% on my third run, and stopped recording 30 seconds into the run :(
I think I may have caused that by leaving the WiFi turned on, and leaving my phone in the car, so cam and phone were needlessly chatting to each other for about an hour...

Rather than drill a hole in my waterproof housing, I may buy one of these new skeleton housings.
They let you plug in a USB power cable while using the camera. Expected to be available in Australia in June.

Very cool Ric! love seeing the ol' MG's in action. my great uncle and his MG club never drove theirs above 60 :?
i find the life of the go pro hero3 very short. i have to have it plugged in constantly in the car, i have found it won't record and charge properly at the same time. very annoying.
also since when is there a stock car track in Australia!?

That's the old Calder Park Thunderdome.
It hasn't been used for NASCAR/AUSCAR racing since 2001. If you look closely, you can see trees growing up between the grandstand seats!
Nowadays, the Thunderdome track is just used for drifting. The MG club hired it when our booked venue for an Autokhana event suddenly became unavailable.

Battery life is rubbish on the Hero 3’s and it gets so bloody hot, it’s only saving grace is the video quality and ability to take photos as well as record.

My Hero 2 would last 2.5 hours on the highest settings.

I invested in a second battery and battery Pac for my Hero 3, I also remove the battery from the unit when I’m not using it as I noticed the batteries were being drained even when the unit was switched off.

Also the remote does take up a lot more juice, I found the app was are little more battery friendly for the same reason.

Great video btw Ric, I got some footage on the weekend from a track day at Eastern Creek.

Bear in mind the skeleton case is effected by wind noise more so than the waterproof case.

Not a problem for me. The cam is mounted inside the cabin :D

Dang... your navigator has a small robot looking head Ric. You should tell them to get that checked out asap.

I came across this video using the time lapse setting on the GoPro camera (provided by a mate of a mate)

http://youtu.be/T3_8qDcp8yM

Cool idea - kinda provides inspiration for doing a "Need for speed : underground" type video for a few of us to do on a night cruise.......

Hmmm... jack and nigel's night stills combined with some time-lapse footage (per above) = sounds like a WINNING promo video for Club.Lib (sydney members anyway)

Agreed - lets make it so

Why do we need to wait for strong winds?

The sliding Aussie $ means prices are likely to rise again soon.
I'm still waiting for the skeleton housing, expected delivery is end of July now :(

I got some great videos at Calder Park and Rob Roy over the long weekend. Some of them are on Youtube now:
