But then I saw the pictures of turning onto a dirt road!?!?

That was just a 10 metre slip road rejoining the main road near Reefton.

The "Old Warburton Road" was a very worthwhile detour. :)

I'm not sure if u noticed the massive holes in the ground in the forester? I managed to avoid most of them but one caught me by surprise and now I need a wheel alignment.

Bugger! :(
I didn't see lots of potholes, and went around the few I did see.
I'd like more opinions, but I think that was a lot more interesting than just going through Warburton.

+1 on the Rally Style on the way down from the Upper Yarra Dam :D

Great shots Chris! :D
I notice you had plenty of time to take pics along the Black Spur, as we were going so slowly.
It's a shame that Landrover decided to go so slow, and stay in front of us for the entire leg. :(

Whose car is at the back? Any more shots of it?
Looking to re-paint my rims and looking for ideas on the diamond grey colour. Looks like they are black/dark. May just be the shadow though :(

Looks like a very healthy turn out and some good twistys to enjoy :D

Thanks for the photos. Looks like it was a great day!
BTW, who was driving the Ford Escort?
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

No idea. They weren't part of our cruise, just managed to get between some of us as we entered the black spur.
The only non-Liiberty's were my Forester and the red MR2.
