Bumping an old thread... Looking at maybe getting a B7 S4 or S5 in the not-too-distant future(still not sold on what I'm getting though)... Just wondering how the S4 is going Clarence?

So far so good. Issue with the B6 S4 is the dual-mass flywheel separating, so I need to get the flywheel replaced with a B7 (fixed) one from USA - that requires a different clutch assembly as well.
Apart from that - it's great. Loving the V8 still :D

Fair enough! Glad to hear it's all going well so far!

Problem I've found is manual B7's are very rare!... Means I'm leaning towards saving for a bit longer to try and get an S5... :)

Audi Australia didn't bring in the B7 S4 in a manual. That might be why. ;)

You can always get the RS4.

ahh... that would explain it... lame...

S5 it is then...

As much as the RS4 is an ULTIMATE machine... and I would absolutely love one... From what I'm told, the servicing/maintenance is extortion, and I'm a pretend baller without the income to support such a massive ongoing cost!

I thought this one was going to have garage queen status though, surely it couldn't do too much damage to te pocket if your not driving so often?

You raise a valid point... but I don't really want to have to save for 6 months to afford to service the thing!?...

I will do a bit more research on what servicing costs would be, but given the S5 will be cheaper anyway, and although slightly slower, I think almost as nice... It's hard to justify pushing even further for an RS4... Although, it would be absolutely awesome! :D

I don't think servicing is that much more. Labour definitely costs more, the car is more intricately put together - i.e. for my car the service manual recommends 13 hours for the clutch. Parts aren't much more expensive than the Subaru if you know where to look.

Though I think with the RS4 you run into issues of having RS4-specific parts, that may push the prices up (baller tax)

Yeah fair call... I'm not expecting anything to be remotely similar in cost to my jap experience... but $5k+ for a service seems excessive (not a quoted figure or anything, just a guess)

Standard servicing isn't much more than the Subaru in my experience (of course not going to stealerships) - maybe 10-20% more?
