very nice i was going to get one of these too, but the additional tax and insurance overhere was a bit off putting for me. Hows the performance compared to the old legacy? Its probably a lot heavier?

Funnily enough, insurance was cheaper for me with the S4 than the Liberty - it was a good opportunity to shop around for a different provider.

The 4.2 V8 is totally different to drive than the 2.0T - all lowend, most of my driving is done from about 800-1500rpm (it's sounding as if I'm driving a diesel!) but seriously - it just pulls. Can be in sixth gear from 30km/h onwards and it still pulls.

The car is significantly heavier, I think it's about 1800kg, and in cornering you really feel it (probably doesn't help with the Michelin Pilot Preceda that I currently have) but it's a very comfortable long-range cruiser. I drove down from Sydney to Melbourne in a day and I wasn't sore at all.

Also, in terms of fuel, it's pretty similar to the Liberty in terms of consumption, which I was suprised.

might be cheaper actually for me too so, i suppose once they dont here you mentioning you want to insure a Subaru im sure its a bit cheaper, after seeing your car today i went having a look at these two cars:

http://www.carzone.ie/search/Audi/S4/201137204428355/advert?channel=CARS

http://www.carzone.ie/search/Audi/RS4/**AUDI-R/201112201713012/advert?channel=CARS

I was thinking if your going to get a 4.2 L car, might try for the best one. The difference between the two is unreal, not sure i could live with the servicing costs a fuel economy of the Rs4, but heh you only live once right!

The RS4 is a totally different animal to the S4. It sounds different too... if you get one of those, I'm going to be mighty jealous :P

I don't know if RS4 fuel economy will be significantly worse than the S4. The RS4 brings with it direct injection.

Still probably out of my price range for next 6 months anyways. Maybe I should just enjoy my new found power this vf36 provides me. I can think of it as s4 power in a legacy body! I have heard one or two s4s with some milltek mufflers and the sound awesome under full throttle and look very similar to stock

I would love a full Milltek exhaust. Priced it up about $3500 delivered for the down pipes as well as the catback exhaust.
