20th Anniversary of Targa - Targa Tasmania 2011

Postby swingn » Thu Apr 21, 2011 1:41 pm

Hi All

My old man was lucky enough to be part of the Porsche Tour group for the 20th Anniversary of Targa Tasmania – Basically he got the drive the course but wasn’t technically “racing”… Although, word was the touring group got a talking to after they were found to be running faster the 50% of the actual race field :P

Any how, I thought I’d share some photos (PS - No that isn't damage to the front bar, it's contact to help protect it... Worked a treat!):

Thanks for pics Matt.

That's exactly what the wife and I want to do with Lucy! Be a part of the touring class (if that's what it's called?). We don't want go full role cage etc... Just be fun to do, and could you imagine a better way to tour/see Tasi???!!!

Can you please ask your Dad what is involved in taking part?

I'm also keen on doing it :D

My old man was part of the Porsche Touring group for their 60th B'day in Australia... So for him it was as simple as a quick little e-mail from Porsche, then just parting with the $$$ :P

There was a normal touring group of approx 25 cars, but how they get involved etc, I have no idea... Will be doing a bit more looking into it as it would be a fantastic experience :D ... Just like doing Drive Bathurst, which may be on the cards for me this year :D

Ok, I'll do some digging too. I have some mates interested in helping me with a support car for rims/tyres and small amount of spares etc... I know it's a basic street catagory but it can't hurt being prepared. I'm super keen to get into this

Some very nice photos there, especially of them getting light :) You must have moved around the course a fair bit?

^^^

I didn't take the photos... I had to stay & work unfortunately.

They had a professional photographer down there covering the event.

there's fugg all traffic on most of the roads that Targa uses anyway... all for free... every day!
