The rear end on these things looks so unfinished and uninspired. The front looks great, although a grille more akin the original concept would tidy it up, but its like they got 3/4 the way down the car and just gave up. It's like the design team had a "bring your kids to work day" and they let their kids whip out their crayons for the rear end.

Also the wheel arches are SO BIG that even 18's look small on it!

But, i must say, with a few asthetic mods and some bling they scrub up okay :) I saw one the other day with the cool rear lip attatchment and a spoiler and it looked so much better!

Small sunken wheels is what gets me with this model, I think with some low offset 19's that this shape could look boss. Someone get one of these super low with some low offset 19's and a badgeless grill and it will be 50 times better than stock. Those tinted tails look the goods too, lets see it!

I've held off dropping mine because it scrapes everywhere in Melbourne as is.

Here are some photos of my MY10 GT Wagon. I have fitted 19" Konig alloys which fill out the guards better and I have put a set of STi springs in it. They only dropped it about 15-20mm but it has made a difference. Would be good to go lower but I think it is a good compromise re lloks and clearance.

They are Xforce rear cans for a XT forester. They fit OK standard, but they sit a bit too far inboard. I had the original centre pipe extended by approx 60mm.
Xforce don,t yet make a system for the MY10 on. The liberty wagon system from the MY07-09 did not go close to fitting.

Really still unsure on them. They are sure growing on me and fast but they just look to bulky and heavy i think. the wheels and grilles help so much but the one thing that upsets me the most... it cuts off at 6500, i was bumbed enough when they took the G4 back down to 7000 from the 7500 the B4's where doing.

agreed. wheel arches are the problem. although, 19's and a decent set of tein springs will probably improve it alot.

i wonder what the facelifted gen5 will look like - it must be around the corner - given we've had the genV at the end of 2009? sad to say it won't ever go back to the looks and proportions of the gen4 unless they see such a big backlash from their major markets which would be australia and US - and I'm assuming in US the response isnt quite as negative as here? not very many alternatives out there though (within this price bracket) :angry2:

You'd expect something for MY12, but it must be minor, or we'd see it doing the rounds at the motorshows with the all new impreza.

The Gen v sells better than the previous model, and from what I've read from paid professional critics, it addresses issues with rear leg room, equipment level and general dynamics.

It just seems that there's a small minority of vocal internet users that can't get over the fact that it looks different from the previous models.

Selling better than previous models isn't necessarily a sign of performance, more people move into the bracket of being able to afford medium sized family cars and therefore the total medium sized family car market increases as a whole

Agreed, I liked the lake of leg room, smaller car (less weight) from the little surfing i have done the gen V is 100-150 kgs more than the gen iv.
i know its not a wrx and never was. but its not a commodore either, well it almost is now.
