Old car ads
Posted: Mon Jan 31, 2011 7:45 amSome of the older members here might remember a touring car driver called Murray Carter. I was at his 80th birthday yesterday. He's still racing in a new Corvette, and has been racing since he was 20, which must be some sort of record.
That prompted me to find this old Ford ad he appeared in many years ago, and then to find a number of old ads from the 60's and 70's
(There was also a 3 minute Paul Hogan skit played at the party, filmed at Sandown raceway in the mid 1970s, which never went to air. It showed Hogan as his "Ocker" character rolling up in his mum's old car he'd tricked up a bit to show these racing drivers how it's done. He hired Murray and a couple of other well known racing identities for it, but it was never shown because you can see a number of Sandown employees sitting around the finish line watching the filming.)
