Can anyone recommend a good forum for photography advice/criticism?

I use photoforum.com.au, although I'm rarely on there I have found a few helpful pages. It's good because all levels of skill are welcome and im never put down for nube questions

Yeah going to do a shoot there soon so I'll play around with it and hopefully get some good results! Freezing night so just took a few test shots but that one came out rather cleanly.

Big emphasis on the no ground bit, 1m behind my rear wheel is a drop I'd struggle to climb down on foot Plus I'm taking up half the narrow road with my car where is, then the other half with my camera so I got some interesting looks... I'd really like a nice spot with the city skyline in the background but yet to find something like that...

The key to a shot like this is having an interesting background and one that is lit.. Thats a very nice location there....
I would suggest going slightly higher on the tripod and angling down a tad so you can see more of the background....
The foreground is purely lit by your chosen light source.. try experimenting and if you have a powerful torch or light, try from a distance to light up the car and foreground. You could also use a flash to light up your subject.
You can also light parts of the scene and put it all together later in post.

There is, but IMO that turns it into more of a picture, less of a photo. That's just my opinion though, as the person behind the camera I don't like using Photoshop or very much manipulation at all.

I'm Sort of with you Clarence, I see some photos on 500px and think; that's been edited soo much it may as well of been painted! But I do like to make panoramas and sharpen my photos a bit, other than that, there is minimal editing
