Amazing. I was there when the above pic was taken, and you just can't tell how well the pic is going to come out. :)

I've just moved this whole topic from the"Off-topic" forum to here in the "Photos & Videos" forum.

Hey guys,

Just wondering what lens you would recommend for car photography.
Just an amateur looking to do a bit more photo taking for myself, I have a canon 60D
I have the regular lens that comes with but I find them pretty average.

I have a canon 50mm 1.8 and a sigma 10mm fish eye those lenses I find much better to take pics with.

I like up close car photography and was looking to spend up to $1500 on my next lens (max)

After doing some research I have been looking at a Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L
Would you recommend this?

Some of the pics tangla has taken with his 85mm look amazing and I'd love to get that, but don't have the funds, is there a cheaper alternative with a similar outcome for photos.

Some pics I've taken with my 50mm and fish eye

Just clarifying that's not me. Haha

50L is a wonderful lens , had one for a period of time , if you can stretch get it :) otherwise look at the sigma 50mm 1.4 good reviews out there, great auto focus too.

What about the sigma 30mm 1.4 would that have similar effects?

Yeah it is if you want to shoot wider, but going off your comments you enjoy and use the 50mm focal length more often?

Effectively what I like is being able to focus on a particular part, side or object (being all car related) an having everything fade into blur haha ideally something that I could focus on specific car parts, as well as putting the entire car in frame and dropping the background off.

The sigma 50mm is a little more expensive than the canon 50mm in the 1.4... Still go the sigma?

Probably a bit late, but the 85mm f/1.8 is a good lens that may suit your style too.

Don't know. I haven't bought new camera gear in a few years.

Tang, is this the same lens you were talking about? I read your first post on this thread and you said the lens you bought was $2300 was that a different lens or meant to be this one? Or simply a depreciation in cost since you bought it?
