To get the fancy exhaust you hand over about $1,300 to Mr Subaru for the privalage. One thing they do however is they take away the nice chrome exhaust covers, but its always give and take.

Well done Mark - I think that the body kit makes it look a lot better than the stock body. The pics b/w your mum's car and yours clearly show this.

Hope you get better and get out and enjoy the car on the twisty stuff soon!

Well bit of an update I had the front windows tinted, the tint matched to the privacy glass and looks good. Following good advice it was done by Top Cat in Woden.

In no way does it feel heavy. These days I wonder where all the traffic is when I take off at the lights, in 1st and 2nd it pulls so fast that I have to look at the speedo when thinking of going from 2nd to 3rd that I am not over the speed limit and see all the other cars way behind me.

As I live off the Federal Highway 26km from Canberra I also get to do a fair bit of highway speeds and it just flies, staying at 110 is almost impossible...LOL

yeah, it's a side effect of the trend of the last 3 or 4 years towards a higher hip line and fairly slab sided styling. The VE commodore, current Hilux and Pathfinder are examples on this

Is the styling growing on you?
I wonder if the front would look better once some aftermarket front grills come out for it...

I don't mind high waistlines it depends a lot on the seating position. I don't like having the waistline of the car effectively at my waist (gross exxageration). Mum's Corolla feels like that due to its high seating position, low center console etc.
