Remember that a RAW file is still 'interpreted' in the program you process it in...

JPGs out of the camera will have very little compression.
If you've converted them yourself, it depends how much compression the convertor used.

There is another issue to be aware of though. I think JPGs only store 8 bits per colour, but RAW files store more bits, so there is more "dynamic range" to work with if you have to brighten or darken the image.

That looks pretty good with the silver tang,
although to me it looks more like a shadow/black chrome than a gun metal.
