It'd be a bit late to be doing a coupe of the current shape. Unless the Gen5 isn't going to be much different from the Gen4 (which I don't think would be a bad thing)

Firstly, it is REAL and the links come from reputable sources, so it is probably some-what true, it says it will be due out in 2010/11.

It is real? Gen 5 is due next year remember. By real do(es) the source(s) mean that it is actually a mule for the Gen5 running gear rather than an actual coupe version (due 2010/2011) of a sedan that will be superseded in 2009?

First of all, sorry luke I kinda of hijacked your thread (oops).

In answer to smythie's question, from what I've read it does not superseed the sedan version but i think it's just another addition to the liberty range, more variety i guess For those who don't mind a good read (like myself) there are more articles on it @ Edmunds Straightline for those who are familiar. oops i forgot to mention this as well:

UPDATE: In a related story (here). Nick Senior, Subaru of Australia's managing director says no to this coupe, as Subaru Australia won't import it. Here are a few quotes from Senior on this topic:

“From my understanding of it, it doesn’t fit within our brand strategy.”

“But more realistically and more credibly, our DNA is boxer engines and all-wheel drive. I haven’t seen that lose impetus in the last 10 years, so why should we stray from that strategy?”

On the subject of the similar Toyota model, Senior stated: “It gets back to the whole debate about badge engineering and we aren’t interested in that."
