Mods for 07 GT

Postby bt-revolution » Tue Jun 26, 2007 11:45 am

Hey Guys,

What have ppl done to their 07 2.5lt GTs?

Suggestions? Preferably Jap Brands only.

- FMIC? Does any brand fit? I'm thinking only AVOTurbo has one.
- Manifold - Tomei? GTSPEC (US brand)
- Front Pipe - Tomei, Zerosports
- Catback - Fujitsubo Legalis R
- ECU?

Can someone let me know difference for EJ20/EJ25 for the exhaust setup. Manifold/headers are the same, front pipe? Catback is the same.

I would probably like Un Equal tuned headers. I know its not as good as tuned, but love that boxer rumble!

Blitz make one for the GT. Btw, AVO ain't jap.

- Front Pipe - Tomei, Zerosports

Jap ones may not be the best bet as the JDM GT has a twin scroll turbo, the turbo on the 2.5 is different - you might want a dump pipe with a slpitter.

- Catback - Fujitsubo Legalis R
Good choice, happy with mine :)

- ECU?
Mines, Zero Sports, HKS, etc - again, keep in mind that we get the 2.5 while JDM is 2.0 and the P & P type ECUs from japan may not work well with the 2.5.

I'd just go MOTEC and call it a day.

Manifold/headers are NOT the same. While it may be the same on the EJ20 /EJ25 motor block, the std exhausts are not motor specific, they are car/chassis/turbo specific.

EJ20 on the Legacy/Liberty GT was a equal length headers, the EJ25 is not. Check that the sump and oil filter are in the same location on both motors too. Just like on the 06/07 WRX STI Spec C the motor is still a EJ20 like normal WRXs but they both have very diff headers - equal length on the Spec C and un-equal on the normal WRX.

I would probably like Un Equal tuned headers. I know its not as good as tuned, but love that boxer rumble!

No such thing as "Un Equal tuned headers", 'tuned' or 'tuned length' means equal length. The only way to keep the boxer sound and get more flow is if you can find a header that has a larger pipe diameter but is still un-equal.

Cheers for the Info Mo_GT!!! :D

Still trying to work out the differences between the 2.0 and 2.5lt. The difficulty is having the 2.5, whereas in Japan they still use the 2.0. So not sure which parts will be bolt on.

FMIC:
Yeh I realise AVOTurbo is not a japanese brand. But they have brought out a FMIC for the 2.5lt GT.

So Blitz LM for the 2.0 will fit 2.5 model? However don't like the design, how the piping enter/exits from the top side of the endtanks.

Greddy R-Spec FMIC for BP5, same as BL5, again will that suit/fit 2.5 GT?

FRONT PIPE:
If not Jap ones, how about GTSPEC?

CATBACK:
Will be going Fujitsubo Legalis R for sure. :P

MANIFOLD/HEADERS:
If not Jap ones, how about GTSPEC?

ECU:
- Any other ECU locally? ECU TEK?

Yeh well, harder to determine whats a parts will be bolt on from Japan for the new GT. They don't have the 2.5lt Liberty GT in Japan, they still use the 2.0. Thats why at the moment I'm trying to find out, what parts can be fitted and/or difference.

Suspension parts - Ok
Bodykits - Ok
Wheels - Ok
ECU - Uncertain (Possibly Mines, Emanage Ultimate, etc)
Manifold/Header - Uncertain, Maybe Tomei.

From what PHAT has told me, the teins I ordered for my 05 will fit on the 07 model as well.

I hope he is right as that was one of the deciding factors for me to spend the extra bucks as opposed to just lowered springs.

Not all US parts will fit. For example, the Perrin TMIC will not fit, dump pipe may not fit and why would you buy US made parts when we can get jap parts for around the same price if not less?

Because Mo the Jap specs all are 2.0 litres. they dont have the 2.5 litre like we do. That why we would have to purchase parts from the US unless u get sum custom work done here in Oz.

Yes and no Phil, the main differences between the 2.5 and the 2.0 is the block. Plus the the USDM car is left hand drive, their steering, brake, etc components are on the other side, so things like TMICs, dump pipes, etc etc may not fit our cars.

For my 07, all the parts that i put on will be Jap except for a one or two...having said that, my mods will be very minor - pretty much the same as my 05.

These guys, 'The King of Parts' are terrific, I ordered my Brembos from them last Friday night (Friday am US time) and they will be delivered to my work tomorrow. That will be exactly 6 working days. Too easy!

Worth a look IMO. Considering the delays I have experienced with getting stuff for my car so far (like wheels that took 6 mths :? etc.) this has been refreshing.
