Gambit's Project

Kiahatsiu's opinion:

New STI Spec R sedan in white.
Pointless black roof wrap.
Rotated Gtx3076r ;)
Frontmount
Built bottom end
Aftermarket equal length headers
3" 'zorst of some sort.
Big old injectors
Big fuel system
Tune for corn juice.
Your choice of suspension mods, ohlins for wank bling
Good pads
R comp rubber
Black Rims of your choice.
Slay hot bitches and be the envy of all.

I tried to draw an MS paint diagram, but it was too time consuming.

this is the best suggestion so far with my own bits added.

That would be cool, but i still think you want an STI wrx. It comes with the gearbox conversion and brake upgrade done!

Agreed for the money you spend on an exiga which would be a decision based on wagon space. I'd rather an Impreza STi with the DCCD, front and rear diffs, Brembos, Recaros (sole reason for the R spec) and the BBS wheels, i'd take off the front brembos and put on the alcons anyway.

Whilst not what has been discussed above, could be a good place to jump back in.

Well insurance has finally paid out on the write off and I have also brought the wreck back to salvage. Thank goodness i declared every mod with Shannons, it was well worth it.

Now thats out of the way i can speak my mind.

What can i say, i poured a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it and to see it burn down the way it did, is something i would'ent wish upon anyone.
So what happend? Well 4 weeks prior to the event, i started to notice a very mild exhaust leak when it was on the pump 98 tune, decided i would get it taken in for a retune on E85 and and asked my tuner to search for an exhaust or fuel leak whilst there. A few days later picked up the car and was informed no leak was found. I was more or less focused on the E85 tune and so was the workshop so we left it at that.
Took the car to the drags and it performed flawlessly however i noticed that the E85 fuel comsumption was stupidly high a few days later. It was drinking fuel. I kept driving it for the next few days, even though i said to myself i should go get it rechecked. Which i did not. The morning of the event i popped the bonnet to have a look around and double check the fuel lines there was obviously a fuel smell but i ignored my instincts and decided to drive it anyway. About 5 mins into my journey there was a large short circuit and then a burning smell, i was at this point in peak hour traffic and stuck in the outer right hand lane, looked at the cluster and only the battery light was on, seconds later engine cuts out, but by the time i negotiated 3 lanes of traffic to pull up it was well and truely on fire, jump out pop the bonnet, run to grab 1kg dry powder extinghuser and unload it, to no avail, its well and truely alight, passersby scream at me to back away, at this point it could explode, walk back. 5-10 mins later 2 fire trucks turn up and unload on the engine bay. Nothing left. Burnt right into the cabin and past the firewall. End of story, and after reliving the events through my mind back and forwards. i went against gut instinct and continued to drive the car. It could have been an injector that had unseated out of the fuel rails, it could have been the split fuel line setup or fuel regulator lines loosening off and any one of the numeroues fuel lines cracking or lossening off. Who knows, its burnt to a crisp, short of getting a fire forensics team to go through it, there is not much else that can be done to investigate cause or to lay blame.

But anyway i am past that now and parting out the car and keeping what i need for the next build. The next build will most likely be a later model used MY11 STI sedan with factory warrenty, will drive it stock until the warrenty expires and then go to town on a big build with my left over parts. Its something to look forward to, its still a few months away as i need to recoup some money on top of the payout, but thats the way it goes i guess. Just trying to stay positive about it all, and thankful that family nor I was not hurt in the incident.

Thanks to everyone who offered support throughout this as well.
Cheers
