just started upgrading my stereo
first step : completed
new head unit : w202 alpine dvd player
upgrade rear speakers : alpine 6.5" splits for more treble and clear sound through the car .
amplifiers : mrp 300 4ch amp to the fronts and the back set to run less bass through the speakers so the can go a bit harder
alpine mono block with 1000RMS ( not sure on the model as the cover of the amp is off for keeping the amp cooler )
2 farad capacitor to power the stereo without draining the car battery and better performance from the amplifiers

step two :
upgrade front speakers to focal k2 165KRX3 6.5" 3-way component speaker set
focal solid 4 amplifier
dynamat : doors, roof, boot, floor,
anther type r subwoofer
X2 costume fiberglass sub box
X2 alpine pdx 600 mono block
hoping to get it all finish with in the nest 3 moths

I think you'll find the capacitor doesn't do anything

Agreed. That system is not going to need a 2F capacitor. A cap is the same as a battery but it just responds much faster, in the end if your alternator doesn't put out enough juice the biggest cap isn't going to help.

I don't know anything about capacitors or caps but am just glad to see that the head unit is installed! Looks great mate - makes me miss my alpine head unit.

It's helps abit . Head it runnig in my old car without a capacitor and the dash lights and the low beems were going dim when a big bass came and the bass wasent as punchy after the cap the bass was louder and smother and car light were fine it's not a big difference but u can fell it abit

That's just masking the issue of a weak battery...

yeaa... the only time i see a capactiy used was for really high end audio. and my couzn hu has a 5k system in his car isnt even using a capcitator (which he should) but still runs well and his own problem is the flickering of lights which is easily fixed with a better battery, i mean he has a wrx sti those batteries are small as the 2.5is ==

Sell the cap and use the money to upgrade your earths and get a better battery. Otherwise looking pretty good. I personally wouldn't have bothered with upgrading the rears, especially before upgrading the fronts.

The velcro holding the box down wont be doing any favours for your bass.
If you want it removable, get some form of tie down mounts in the boot floor, (not sure if its easily done in a lib, re; fuel tank, but ive seen it in an astra hatch), and on the side of the box, then you can use short tie downs to secure it TIGHT to the car, and that will give you much better bass.

Your HU install looks schmick too!!

$5k system isn't really what you'd call "high end"...you can buy a set of front speakers for nearly $4k...and with a $3k HU, you're already $2k over without having sound deadened the car or bought amps to power the lot...let alone sub-woffers or upgrading cables and wiring...

The capacitor is really only there to level out the power, but as Tangcla said, it masks your weak battery...best bet in your case is to use a smaller capacitor (1F - only if you have to) and get a deep cycle battery...that should stop the lights dimming, etc

hey guys the cap amps HU and type R speakers are with me for about 8 months now i didnt buy them for this car all this parts came out of my holden ute n thought instead of selling it all and upgrade i will just upgrade the new car with it all for the time been until i have some more money saved up to upgrade the lot and as i was very happy with the ute set up i thought I should try it out
now after finishing the first upgrade I'm very happy with it, sound quality is very nice and very clear even when going very loud so i think i managed to get a set up that i can enjoy without going crazy with money

oh i forgot the original price would of been 10K+ but he got it on special, plus we knew the guy XD so his fronts were pretty much 3-4k, his 2 amps were probably around 2-3k and his sub again was around 2-3k and let alone i did not include the installation price which he got professionally done with proper dynomatting so the whole car still retain its stock lock, and on that he already had a good decent HU so it would of been 10k for his front speakers, 2 amps and a sub =) and his installation was again 3k itself including the dynamat, so in the end he would of spent 13k but overall with some asian haggling and clearnace specials got it down to approx 5kish and installation was at a different place and best offer was 8k so he saved himself quite alot of money

where is all that figures coming from mate ?
all i was saying is the old stereo fit my needs in the lib atm never said that it coast me few k's never even posted any figures about the stereo
and yea the focal speakers amps and sub woofers will coast a lot more then what i can afford atm so ill i said is im happy with this set up for the time been !!
