I figured id start one of these. I know the mods ive done so far arent really that big but my main purchase is still to come. Ive saved up enough for my new wheels which I have ordered and hopefully will get here soon. But till then heres all the other little mods ive done!

Bought my 2000 Liberty Heritage in December last year. I didnt know too much about libertys at the time and if I had done some more research I might have looked a little harder for a newer model gen3 rx but hey, I still love my car all the same!

The day I got it home:

First mod was clear indicators off ebay.

Image

I soon got sick of listening to CDs so I went out and bought a clarion head unit that I think suited the interior well and had a rear ipod input.

Image

When I bought the car subaru told me that they would put a new exhaust on it as I looked under the car and saw the old one looked to be a bit rusted through. However the one they put on was about the size of a garden hose and looked like it was made out of industrial sewer pipe so I had a good reason to get a new exhaust. Its a bit louder in the clip than it is in person but im happy with the note it gave the car:

Next thing was tinted windows. Got them done by Rob at Car Tint in ringwood. Nice guy to talk to and I hung around while he did it so I could see how it was all done. Turned out well:

Then the other day I decided I was sick of the chrome on my grill so I decided to paint it and tint the emblem. A couple of people said they dont like it, but hey its my car and I like it! You can see the emblem easily through the tint in the sun so its not like I have just a completly black badge :P

Image

And finally my brother ordered 2 LED strips off ebay for our boots for about $6 each haha. We broke the first one but the second one was put in and works perfectly. It looks a bit purple so I think im gonna hunt for the white ones, but for $6 you cant really complain.

The strip:

And further away:

So there ya go. i think thats all ive done so far. Just cant wait till my wheels arrive then I think ill be done for a while as ill be broke :P

Heres a final shot I took on Christmas eve that I thought turned out well:

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I also bought one of the Sti style lips after a couple people informed me that the bar on mine was similar to the rx/b4 bar and that it would definitely fit, but when I got it delivered the lip hangs over into the wheel wells by about 2 inches each side, and I wasnt keen on cutting the lip of my bar to make it fit, so ive currently got it sitting in a box in the garage. So that was a planned mod that never happened unfortunately.

awesome another gen 3!
looks sweet jimmy, cant wait to see the rims thrown on, what kind are you getting?

love the led strips by the way, ive never looked into doing that for the boot yet i may just as well do so now. could you let me know who you purchased them from on ebay?

in terms of your grill not a huge fan of the tinted badge, BUT you did a good thing by painting the chrome to black looks alot better!!

Thanks guys.

The LEDs were purchased by my brother so ill have to find out who he got them off. Theyre pretty cheap quality and break easy, so it was lucky he bought 2. As for the grill yeah it looked 100 times better without the chrome stripping, and I can always replace the badge at a later date if i get over the tinting!

Wheels wise I have a set of these in 18x7.5 on order:

I think itll go well if they ever arrive. The place im getting them from aren't really helpful any time I ask whats going on with them!

Still trying to find a good tire in 225/35/18... it seems its a very uncommon size!

Nice clean GenIII. I like that head unit it matches the dash really well. Also they are similar wheels to what I want, but I want some with a machined lip.

I cant remember who made them, but someone at Bob Jane showed me a rim that was exactly the same as the one I am getting except with a machined lip. Im not sure if it was a very good quality rim but maybe you should look into that if thats what you want.

Hopefully ill have some news on the rims this week. Unfortunately the guy im dealing with isnt being very helpful. I ordered them back in November and he told me they would definitely be in by xmas, then when I went in a couple of days after xmas all I got was "I have no idea man and I cant call them till the 4th because theyre closed till then". Frustrating to no end!

I went the darkest legal which is 35% and to be quite honest, I really wish I went with 20-25%. Its not bad, but id just prefer it darker.

Also I heard last friday that the wheels were finally on their way over from New Zealand and they will be here by the end of the week. Only problem is the tires. I need 225/35/18 and theres not much out there for choice apparently. I ended up settling on Kumho KU19s but now I find out that they are out of stock everywhere and they cant tell me when they will be back in stock. Looks like Ill have to keep looking around.

Hey those wheels look pretty good, although personally I don't really like the lettering on them?
