NTD Adjustable electronic throttle controller

Postby teK-- » Sun Nov 22, 2009 9:57 am

I've been loathing the stock ETC mapping since I bought this car. It seems as though every time I step on the pedal, that all the little 1's and 0's in the ECU go and have a tea party to debate about what instruction they'll pass onto the engine for me.

Previously the Sprintbooster was one of the more common units to augment the ETC map, but I didn't like the fact that it is fixed to their factory calibration. There is a newer one out which has been getting good feedback; it allows 7 levels of "sports" calibrations, an ECO calibration, and it defaults back to normal (unchanged) when you switch off the car.

Group buy is running for another FOUR days:
http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123318

Shipping to Australia is extra 20USD on top of the quoted price (basically 170USD). Since our dollar is so kickass (even more than the Vietnamese Dong) it works out to only 185AUD. I have put my name down for one and it should get here by Xmas.

Hey Terry the person organising the NTD groupbuy said that there was a copy of their product... perhaps the Shadow one is the copy; or is it the other way around lol. Both products look identical.

Also can you pls elaborate as to what computer issues your friend had? I can't see how a gas pedal intercepter could cause any problems since it doesn't exceed the range/speed of motion that your foot could anyway?

Tek - are you simply looking for permenant throttle response fix, or switchable like this device provides? The reason I ask is if you are looking for a 1 time adjusment (i.e. you leave it in sport all the time) then why not look at correcting your DBW (Drive By Wire) tables via an opensource tune? I'm sure someone in Melb with a tactrix cable could help you out for free or very minimal outlay.....

BUT if you want the switchability (SI Drive like copy) then this seems reasonable.

Hey Lee I'm looking for something switchable (since with this car I do not know what an throttle map would look like on paper). I have followed some threads regarding people who have changed them with varying results. The ideal map was definately not a straight, linear line.

I'm also a bit apprehensive about getting into the ROM and changing things around, even if it's only the throttle map. with the ETC module it's risk free, instantly reversible, and I can have different settings for different situations :)

I just ordered one it should hopefully arrive in about 2 weeks time. I'll post up a review once I fit it.

From what I can find there are 3 units that look identical with the same features and from different manufacturers. There is one from "Shadow", "NTD" (the one I'm buying), and Pivot. I have listed them in order of cheapest to most expensive.

Quite likely the same factory in Taiwan pumping them out and they are getting rebranded.

Pretty sure Blitz make a throttle controller that does what your talking about.

Work's a little bit like SI drive, but it more performance focused :D

Not as cheap as what you're currently looking at (Last time I looked it was around $400.00 AUD) but from my experience you get what you pay for... But that's not to say you can't get good lower cost stuff... I'm just a brand whore...

Interested to see your thoughts after you have installed etc :D

Hey Matty I saw the Blitz one it doesn't even look as good as the NTD one (plastic looks cheap) and it costs a lot more! Both should achieve the desired result :)

The NTD one turned out being $193.00 inc. shipping from the USA.

Compared to the NTD/Shadow/Pivot one: Image
