Didn't TETT say he was doing a 25% tint? That may be too much IMO, especially if you're looking to just barely reduce the effect of the redness. 50% is good. Even my 35% is too dark as it is!

i am not doing the 25% tint, just plan to do the 25% . as you said 25% is too dark , so how about 35% ?? i think 50% is too light .

hey guys,

small update:

finally installed the OLD 12" free-air sub
+ kenwood KAC-8104D Monoblock 300W RMS amp

mongoose 170 deg wide angle CCD reverse camera

NOTE: i just had this sub lying around doing nothing so i thought i'd chuck it in to get some bass from the crappy stock stereo, it's not intended to be some high end fancy stuff, over all im quite happy with it! shakes the mirrors, looks almost factory, and i still have my boot space!

seats removed to chuck in mdf to mount amp and sub.. car looks so cheap underneath! haha

had to remove the backing trim piece in the boot and make our own and carpet it! lucky carpet matches the colour, stock looking!

overall im super happy with the sub, gives a nice punch to the system once all fine tuned thanks to my mate Doug who tuned it. gives me a nice massage in the seat without being overly loud (although the option is there to dial it up to window shaking loud!)

anyways, that's all for now, haven't mounted the camera yet, will post pics of that later!

Nice work on the stereo very neat work. I also had one of those F12a's as my first subby and it did a great job in a big ported box, so it should sound pretty good by using the boot. Just be sure that when mounting a sub using the front of the flange, that the cutout in the MDF is big enough so that the surround does not hit it when the cone hits maximum excursion.

yeah i originally had two of these 12" subs but one has gone AWOL. lol

and was gonna put it in a box, but the specs told us that it needs a MASSIVE box which woulda taken up my whole boot.......

good point about the cutout, lucky my mate is a pro installer and he thought of that also! i prob wouldn't have lol
