Hi Fellow Libertirians,

I'm thinking about getting some new rims for my 07 GT Wagon.

Can anyone give me some advice on what would be the largest size l could get without having to role the guards?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Michael.

PS are there any decent places in Perth to buy rims or do l need to head over East?

It's a matter of wheel offset and tyre profile rather than absolute wheel diameter size.

19x8 was the largest people suggested me getting at several stores I went to.

In my opinion go see John at "Tyres and More" located at 4 Carbon ct. Osbourne Park. 92428888 great service and great guys who know what they are talking about.

Well I know most people have trouble fitting more 225/35/19 on their cars. People are known to run 19x8.5" with a +55mm offset. I have 19x8 with 225/35/19 and I have no scrubbing at all with only the front guard rolled a tiny bit.

There are some with 20x7.5 and 20x8's are there cars though

Assuming you have a post-facelift Spec.B with 225/45/18 tyres, you should be able to run 235/35/20 with no problems AS LONG AS the wheels are the right width and offset.

I'm not sure if 235/30/20 is a common size or not...

I have 19" x 8's in a +48 offset(from memory)... running 235/35R19 tyres, guards are untouched and not even the slightest hint of rubbing!

Otherwise known as "Wheels World", definitely another place worth going, especially if you are looking to spend the big dollars! ;)

Also remember how big a wheel you can fit and how much tolerance you can have with offset is largely governed by how low your car is. :)

Agree totally,

I have 225/30-20 on, which is actually smaller in diameter than the stock spec B tyre.
The width of my rims are only 7.5" but i had to roll the guards because it sits so low & my offset is +42mm from memory, where as mentioned above some people can get away with 8" or even 8.5" depending on offset & how low the car is

I'm running a 19x8.5 in +50, lowered. I get a slight rub on inner front guard on full load whilst cornering. Tyres are 225.35.19 with a rim protection.

7.5" +42 will be guard rubbing offset on a low car. :)
