Intercooler takes total to 172kW ATW

Postby OzSTi » Wed Jan 21, 2009 4:16 pm

Intercooler (Hypertech) plus retune (Ecutek) and patch to control AFR gave another 9kW to take the the peak power in S# to 172kW. Importantly there's more down low - see graph. In S mode it's 163kW.

S# now feels like it needs to be treated with respect, and make sure the road's clear ahead! :D

Nice. A big improvement everywhere which I reckon is most important. Interesting though that it tapers off a LOT more at the top than before.

That was done in 3rd?

Looks like some improved results but as stated why did they do the dyno run in 3rd gear? Roller dyno maybe as opposed to a awd hub dyno?

I assume you are talking about an ecutek "patch" for controlling the AFR's ?

Also do you know when your boost comes on and tops out in terms of rpm rather than kph?

I'd say that's a limitation of the VF46.

Boost probably tapers off because by 6,000rpm they've likely reached the limit of how much air can be pushed through the turbo.

I'm yet to have a chance to give it a decent flog but there's a cruise on Sunday through the hills and southern roads which will be perfect to give me an idea how it goes. I try to take notice what rpm boost comes on.

I couldn't see what gear they used but it says 3rd on report.

Stock exhaust behind dump / front pipe.

Patch is indeed regarding drifting AFRs and preventing this.

If it's an auto, it would have been done in third because it will overheat in fourth - 4th gear in the auto will get up to 240km/h and the dyno fan isn't pushing enough air to cool it.

If a manual - then I don't know why it's in third either :P power output shouldn't change but torque will.

Awesome buddy, from only that pic the car looks great!

Results are promising, I am guessing with an TBE you could be knocking on 200kw at the wheels with ease?
