Last night was not a fun night for Lucy and myself. While waiting for a clear spot in traffic I was rear ended by another driver. I was stationary, and she was doing 60km/h or more. so here are some photos which are not great to see. I have minor bruising, some sore muscles, and concussion. No fractures to the neck, or bleeding in the brain. No internal bleeding in the abdomen, so counting my lucky stars the car took most of the brunt. but then again I wish it did not happen. This car was a dream come true when I received it :(.

Photos taken the day after the incident.

Damage of the car before the tow truck came.

What a **** of a thing to happen. Such a good car too.

Would be nice if people paid attention on the road.

thanks all, yeah looks like a write off, car is valued at 13,600. So if its superficial damage, and not much on the drive train/chassis maybe its repairable. had a good look under neath, and the damage looks to be contained to the muffler space behind the left rear wheel, and beside the fuel tank, all four wheels roll so hopefully that means panel/crash damage and not more. However not being a mechanic or an insurance assessor who knows what will come of it. Hopefully find out during the week the state of the car.

Have my eyes on other cars going around for sale, to see what I can get if this one is not fixable. I would like to keep it if possible. but I think that might not be possible.

On my understanding (based on someone pulling out in front of my wife's previous car), if the chassis rails/structure is bent it's a write-off. Attempting to repair with bent structural members like that is possible, but "it will never be right again" so a write-off is a blessing of sorts.

Shannon's insurance let you take back the wreck (eg to strip off parts or rebuild) on some basis. For other insurers, you might get to visit the holding yard to remove personal items (and as many internal LED lights as you can) but you may otherwise have to bid for the wreck at auction to get any serious parts out of it. Who knows though - keep making enquiries to see what you can manage.

One option would be to find a gen4 liberty or outback wagon for cheap and transfer over the running gear. Bit of effort but it could bring Lucy back.

That sucks balls big time. Was such a lovely looking wagon. Looking at the angle of the left rear door and door glass, it'll be written off for bent chassis. Real shame. Hope insruance sort you out and you can find another equally nice car soon.

If you get the wreck back and part it out, I may be interested in the headlights.

You will need to fight me for them hahaha.

cheers guys, chat to Mick at techworkz today, and he is quietly confident that its not going to be repaired. So on the hunt for something a shade different something along the STi route...

So for those who are interested. This thread will be no longer active from this post. Call received today that the car is a "Total Loss". So I am on the hunt for another WRX/STI maybe a Liberty STi. see whats available in ACT/NSW.

Thanks for all the support, Sorry BigBadBenny those lights were lovely but apparently they were not bright enough for the other driver to see. I will return to a new Member Profile with the next one. I will keep the insta page. If you want to follow along.
