Hi all,

Bought an 2007 Subaru Liberty GT Spec.b in Brilliant Silver in Novemver 2017. 1 previous owner, 91000kms and all services done at Eastern Lilydale Subaru.

I used to be an owner of an 05 Subaru WRX STi back in the US. Modded that car to my heart's content but I was a single kid then and now I'm married, 2 kids and more "responsibilities". Likely wont get to that level with the LGT but time will tell.

Have been on the forum since I bought the car but havent created a profile until now. The modding has begun so might as well start posting :D

Mods list:

Engine
[*]K&N air box filter

Suspension & Handling
[*]MCA Street Series - Greens(Comfort springs)
[*]Whiteline 22mm Front Sway Bar
[*]Whiteline 20mm Rear Sway Bar
[*]Whiteline f/r adjustable endlinks
[*]Whiteline Front Steering Rack & Pinion bushings

Brakes
[*]HEL SS Brake lines
[*]MRT Master Brake Cylinder Brace

Wheels & Tires
[*]Rota Gravel 18x8 Hyper Black +44
[*]Hankook Ventus H452 235/40/18
[*]STi center cap decals

Exterior
[*]Ultrex STi replica front lip
[*]Trunk lip spoiler paint matched
[*]Liberty front grill crossbar painted black
[*]Philips H4 5000k fog light replacements

Will post some pictures soon...will also need to find some pictures of the STi for good measure!

Hi.. I am interested to get a response form an ex WRX owner.. I am thinking of going from a modded 2.5ltr WRX to an 07+ Lib gt or sti if I can find one I like. Do the GTs have the Brembos on the Spec Bs ? Haven't driven a Lib yet.. How do they compare or don't they..I know the lib will have all the creature comforts and I like the look of some of them, but I am much more interested in performance, handling and braking response. By the way, I am not sure how you will go with the ss braided lines on your wish list. Some transport departments frown on them here I think. We have them on one of our 4x4s and were told they may be an issue.. That car is soo moded, that is the least of our worries.. :(

Hey nice one Chibourne!
I looked but couldnt find any profiles on the US forums, but your handle seems familiar? :)

Stifull:
Postfl tbSTi's have brembos standard and retrofitting a set from an STi involves sourcing dogbone adapters and conversion discs or handbrake shoes with extra friction material added, 170 (std Lib) to 190mm being the difference.

The Lib is heavier and a bit longer than an Impreza, so its always going to have more of a grand tourer feel.

It's a bit hard to compare the WRX STi with the Lib SpecB....totally different animals as the STi was built for performance where as the Lib was built as a family car first. Even with the SpecB, it's really the suspension that is different compared to other Libs. SpecB doesn't come with the Brembos so you would have to opt for the Lib GT tuned by STi for the brembos. That being said, there are a lot of similarities between the two as they are based on the same chassis and engine for example. I think it's a matter of the individual parts that have been upgraded to handle the higher performance output from the WRX or STi variants.

Noted on the SS brake lines...I haven't seen much about those being an issue based on people here on the forum so will have to see.

Yea I joined back in Nov 2017 and introduced myself. Here is the link to my profile on the US forum: https://www.iwsti.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56433

All the picture links are broken now so need to re-upload those on here to share.

Cheers, taking a peek...
iirc Goodridge ss lines are one ADR compliant offering.

Looks like HEL SS lines are ADR compliant according to prospeedracing.com.au

When you buy HEL Brake Lines, they will be:
• FMVSS-106, ADR, LTSA, DOT and TUV approved

Re the sti brakes.... The non sti gts, seem to have the same brakes as the much lighter Imprezas.. If that's the case can the 4 pot front rotors and calipers be fitted to a Lib. I did that conversion on my blue one and it made a huge difference to braking. I can't believe they use the same stock non turbo Impreza brakes on a Lib Gt.. or am I missing something.

GT brakes: front n rear ventilated discs, 316mm fronts, popular upgrade for any Subaru that doesn’t have em!
Wrx 4 pots are good but generally considered next level down...

I’m lucky I already bought all my mods over 7 years, just saving up to fit the hard stuff!
Our 323i e30 baur: stock mods only, but that’s an uphill battle as it is on a 35 year old :)

Rota Gravel and Hankook tyres installed! Have a set of STi center cap decals on order to give the side profile a bit of colouring & contrast.

Time to list the stock GT wheels and a set of tyres up for sale now along with the Bilsteins. MCA street series on their way next week.
