Then arranged to have the dump pipe modified and installed. Unique Exhaust in Bayswater helped me out with the fitment and making up a 3" to 2.5" adaptor aswell as modifying the O2 sensor placement.

Exhaust sounded great, Super sick turbo sounds and made the engine much more responsive!

Spent friday staring out the window at my beast wile trying to work... made it very hard to get through the day haha

But then wile on the way home the engine decided to rip its guts apart...

Soo i guess the plan now is to get the engine out and re build. Even though i new that once i hit 200,000Km's i would need to plan a rebuild i did not think it would happen this quick. Oh well shit happens! Haha :)

I like to think of it as the sound of POWAAARR! Hahaha :)

Trying to stay positive on this, Ive been studying the below guides as i'm going to attempt to remove and dissect myself.

Intake manifold removal/installation:

EJ255 Tear down:
http://www.rs25.com/forums/f105/t74366- ... block.html

Probably not going to go as far as splitting the block just yet, but i might make a nice coffee table out of the old block :)

So Initially I thought it was a cracked piston or something in the bottom end, I was in the process of stripping the engine bay down to inspect and remove the engine. I was taking the turbo off to try make removing the engine easier and found that the shaft had snapped and bearings in the turbo had blown out.

Makes so much more sense now, as wile I was driving with the horrible sound it felt like I still had compression and power up to about 2500rpm, it was the cloud of oil behind me that made me think it was the engine gone BOOM.

Currently working on porting out my TGV's - helped keep me motivated :)

To anyone thinking of doing this its pretty easy just time consuming. Dont waste time trying to unscrew the butterfly bolts just drill them out.

Ordered Mamba GTX3071r - Single scroll 3" Inlet
s-l300.jpg
GTX3071r
s-l300.jpg (19.42 KiB) Viewed 51430 times

Spec's:
Comp. Wheel : 53.1 mm / 71 mm/Trim 56 (11+0 GTX Billet Wheelw/ Extend Tip)
Turbine Wheel : 55 mm / 60 mm / Trim 84 (GT3076R Turbine Wheel)
Compressor Housing Inlet OD: 3” / 76.2mm
Compressor Housing Outlet OD: 2” / 51.3 mm
Compressor Housing A/R: .60
Turbine Housing A/R : .64

With the car being my daily driver I steered away from the GTX3076 as much as i could. I know that the 3076 would have been great but once installed and on the street every day i would be cracking the shits at Hyundai Gets drivers getting me off the line HAHA . So i opted for the 3" inlet comp housing and i'm hoping this 3071 thing will spool nicely :D

Also sorting out Water to Air (W2A, Liquid to Air) Intercooler and heat exchanger :D

W2A

Core Size:24x8x2.5 inch
Water to Air Intercooler Features:
Core Size:10"x5"x4.5" (W=255mm x H=130mm x D=115mm)

And lastly ive got an AVO Inlet coming to match the Compressor inlet - Avo inlet is 2.75" at turbo side but can be trimmed and enlarged to 3".

That's such good news man. Interested to see how you find the Mamba 3071, I'm 95% sure that's the turbo I'm going to use with my H6.

Sensational effort :good:
If your commute ever involves getting stuck in traffic, you may want to consider a decent water spray setup, temp activated, for the atw heat exchanger radiator. Luckily they're an easy mod using eg an auber instruments temp sensor as the controller. :)

Cheers Benny! 8)

Do you think heat soak will be high enough to warrant a water sprayer? I'm to sure on this just yet, i will be adding some temp sensors to keep track of temps. So after some logs we will see :)

That's just based on the experience of other members here with WTA, jacksgtb and jayslays.
They're a great idea for aiding heat exchange on any car...

Sean, can you install the heat exchanger against the radiator?
Seal it against it with foam tape and enjoy the WTA working a lot better in traffic as your radiator fans will draw air through the heat exchanger.

This is my next project.
CURRENT - ATP GTX 3576 - 22psi - 283.7awkw
OLD - Dom 1.5Xtr - Last dyno 254ahkw, previous 238ahkw, first 224awkw.
