jslayz wrote:Sean, can you install the heat exchanger against the radiator?
Seal it against it with foam tape and enjoy the WTA working a lot better in traffic as your radiator fans will draw air through the heat exchanger.

This is my next project.

There is about a 1 Inch gap between the Heat exchanger and the Air con core, Cant really get it closer due to the design of the mounts on either side. The mounts sit flush with back of the Exchanger core...

Filling the Gap with Tape is a great idea! Lucky i haven't put the bumper back on yet :)

Turbo is in!! - Fitment was alright, the oil drain tube was the hardest part... couldn't get hands in to slide the tube on... When Bolting the Turbo to up pipe it was necessary to remove the left hand side water pipe in order to torque it down properly. I had previously removed the dump pipe so there was extra room to move. I was nervous about the Oil and water lines but they all bolted up ok and the supplied fittings were all correct. :)

I ran into an issue where the Compressor housing outlet fouls on the Secondary air pump connector.... If you had these deleted it would be no problem. Thinking im going to need to just delete them and remove them all together.

Air Pump Connector
20170222_183029-816x612.jpg (100.86 KiB) Viewed 53054 times

And the next issue was that the Compressor outlet was pointing right at the PCV outlet... I trimmed the pipe by about 1-1.5cm that the T piece connects onto to get it lower down. Just enough to get the silicone 2" to 3" adapter to clear.

AVO 2.75" (3") Turbo inlet is on - The AVO Inlet needs about 1-2cm trimmed from the turbo end in order to get the kink to clear the TGV's properly (With grinding the TGV's down). When installing this it has to be connected to the turbo prior to installing the inlet manifold otherwise its just a massive pain and CANNOT be done.

Trimming such an expensive piece of silicone nearly gave me a heart attack as i didn't think i could get it on the turbo even after trimming....

If your running the factory fuel lines and rails then the AVO inlet has to be placed between the fuel line and the manifold and then connected to the turbo.

Thinking right now that i might just buy the process west Compressor to intercooler pipe instead of messing around with a million different joins. As you can see from the first pic, the outlet from turbo is basically in the center of the engine. :-?

I was using a cheap catch can as the water resivoir, which worked well until i tried to put the drain/fill bolt in... it stripped the threads on the bolt so that was a no go. Out it came an in went a 90 degree brass fitting.

Went for another drive Got 30mins down the road and the pressure relief cap on the heat exchanger popped off.... i suspect i forgot to put it on properly Haha
This then made the Bosch water pump short out and fried the nice wiring i had done... Fitted a spare pump i had and put temporary wiring in with it directly connected to the battery. Not ideal but it worked. Intake air Temps on freeway were below 23 and when in traffic didn't get above 30 - Success it works! :D

Met up with Matt he worked his magic on the tables to get a rough base tune as we had no idea what the pressure of the wastegate spring was. Had a few vacuum leaks, In my rush i forgot to block off the stock BOV... I had the electrical connector for the 3 port plugged in backwards... and forgot to put a hose clamp on inlet side of the intercooler.

Fixed the hose clamp issue and the 3port... We then tried a quick run, the tube going into the throttle hose popped off.
Fixed it then determined that the headers are leaking like a sieve so called it a day.

Wasn't too disappointed as at the start of the day the car didnt move under its own power and by the end was kind of drivable Haha

Wile driving home the throttle hose popped AGAIN... I then tightned it down as much as i could and babied it home.
Dug my foot into the peddle as i was almost home and split the stock throttle hose Hahaha luckily this time the clamp wasn't the issue

HAHA! I can not wait to get it in! Ive got the Whiteline Solid Diff Bushes to go in aswell :D

On another note I can confirm that the water to air system is functioning well. Temps are a consistent 12-13Degress above ambient when stopped with thermo fans on low. Then on HWY 3-5degress above ambient. Today was 35-36 Degrees in Melbourne :)

Nice one! Try unbolting most of the catback so it's connected but loose. Stuff rags etc in the gaps around the muffs to get correct alignment and slowly do it up.
