A minor weep at the head has presented it self on the driver side at first service since purchase (wasn't there during inspection), so i decided to go buy an engine and rebuild it myself.

Picked this up little while ago for $300, with accessories and manifold. Came out of an Outback which done around 130000km's and was burning oil and blowing some smoke under hard acceleration apparently. I'll strip it down and see what I find.

The crank bolt was so tight I had to use a 1" heavy duty rattle gun to remove.

And I found this ball bearing in the sump but I'm little unsure where it came from, if anyone can help locate its home it would be appreciated.

Interesting, I will be doing the same thing later in the year as my engine also consumes oil. Be interesting to see what you find.
