No, you were incorrect. Kyle said EJ257 and meant a shortblock
Swap in a 06/07 STi engine was a diferent scenario since that was the motor Kyle knows about since he did not know what Dual AVCS is...
Yes, the EJ257 Dual AVCS can be made to work in a A2UG001G/A2UG002T ECU, just lose the TGV solenoid, software hack applied and it is possible.

See how Andy said what the idle load values are? So why would I suggest a massive MAF scaling fix knowing what values the car had when I tuned it in person. Engine needs a cartain airflow to idle... Of course you can see when it is too far off, I know tuners who dont realise though and end up with MAF scalings that look like a lego pyramid instead of a curve. Even Throttle Tip In Boost Error or throttle tip in enirchment can alter the corrections and some people mistake that for MAF scaling being wrong and use that to compensate

So we basically agree there.

And I suggested re-scaling as a diagnosing tool, which I have no doubt you would try, not as a fix. :air_kiss:

Andy has a 1Mb ECU, SI Drive and Dual AVCS on his A2UG series ECU... awkward.

On a side note, have been looking back through some old logs and even with them back when it was essentially stock it still never achieved boost any quicker the 3k. So there may be an issue somewhere but don't think its related to the frontmount.

Had a bit of an odd squeak from the rear end for the last few days, finally had the time to get under to have a look and found the bush for the KCA399's Is already tearing itself apart. Doubt i've even done 5k km since they've been in.

They all do that, I don't believe it's fatal as it's just the outer ring getting squashed off.
Mine were like that when I (successfully) swapped them into JDM alloy rear uppers.
Maybe lube your rsb bushes too. Need to do mine... Creak!

Good to know its not just my bad luck. Loosened it off rotated it a couple of degrees, added some grease and tightened it back up and the squeak seems to have gone for now. Figured it was because that part of it is always under alot more tension than the bottom due to the weird suspension geometry these cars have. Here's hoping it was just the outer that is torn and not further back.
RSB bushings should be sweet in theory, got those weird grease free almost furry ones.

Had her on the dyno this weekend, rather dissapointing result. Think alot of it was the dyno. Guy running it didn't use fans so reckon the intake temps would have been sky high along with the cooler doing F all. Everyone else there had similarily low results.
Sure romraider/virtual dyno can vary a truckload but the previous results with the same dyno were only about 10kw different where this time the dyno result was 30-40kw lower than what virtual dyno shows. She certainly doesn't feel any slower once on boost than before the FMIC so don't think it's doing too bad.
Currently in the process of sorting out a slightly bigger turbo before going for something really big. Current plan is a vf37 with a machined vf38 turbine housing so the Legacy uppipe and downpipe can still be used.

Dyno run from the last time on the same dyno is on there aswell.

Dont get too hung up on dyno numbers. The only thing that would concern me is comparative runs on the same dyno, but even then it would need to be configured the same.

So you're still running the vf38?

I really don't want to be a dick, but you know in completely stock form, the vf38 hits peak boost of 14.5psi at 2400rpm?

Something is not right in your setup to be spooling so late.

Na the facelift vf45, which theoretically should spool even quicker. Yea I know what you're saying, you know your stuff better than most, but really don't know where to look to resolve it. Any thoughts other than just more tuning?

Practically the same turbo with ti-al wheels front and rear

Check for pre turbo exhaust leaks and / or too much timing down low with a lean spool mixture

Sweet, well i'll start working out how to track pre turbo exhaust leaks and have a chat to Matt about the tuning side of it.

Yea dunno. Think he just couldn't be bothered for only 2 runs for each car unlike last time where each car was on for over an hour.

Ball bearing actually detracts from static spool. Benefit is in boost recovery in between gears or on and off throttle

But yes vf45 is dual bb where as vf38 is journal
