Na VF45 for the JDM facelifts.

Also pulled the squeaking KCA399 out to check how much wear the bush had. Safe to say its more than just the outer ring peeling off ;)
Think it may have been started by the fairly rough castings on the alloy arm. Have gone through with the grinder and ground down all the larger casting imperfections and then gone over the whole area with some fine sandpaper so there should be no reason for it to catch on anything anymore. Everything was greased as instructed and it isn't really the kind of item you want to be pulling to regrease every couple of months.

Some TMIC vs FMIC logs

3rd gear logs
First two are with the FMIC and the 3rd one is with the TMIC back on.
The better of the two FMIC ones has it hitting 14.2psi only ~100rpm later. Sure, both hit peak boost quite late but it gets 14.2psi, apparently around stock level, at 2600-2700rpm which isn't too bad. Haven't seen any dyno graphs of other stock turbo ones actually getting 18-19psi below 3000rpm yet.

2nd gear logs.
First three are with the FMIC and the rest are with the TMIC back on.
Image

So really, it isn't the FMIC causing the lag other than the fuel trim issues at low loads, which going to a blow-through MAF setup on the post-intercooler piping should fix. Still need to get the dual AVCS tables optimized by Matt and hopefully will get slightly better spool with that.

Also, the KCA399 bushes are being replaced for free under warranty so hoping the new one fare a bit better :D

And a couple of photo's of how she's currently sitting.

Picked up a new blower over the weekend. Should make for a pleasant bump in power over the stock one.

Looks really good mate. Was the black headliner of the car a standard option or did you get it done?

Headliner came from a wrecked JDM tbSTI with pretty much the full interior, so black pull down handles and light enclosures and all that. Couldn't use the pillars though as those ones didn't support the full airbag setup mine came with so just wrapped the A,B and C in Alcantara. Turning into a bit of a pain now though, the Alcantara on the C pillar keeps lifting up on one particular area that was super hard to wrap. May just bite the bullet and get those ones redone by a pro who actually knows what they're doing.

Have you pulled yours out to see what kind of condition they are actually in Benny? Turns out the squeak I thought was from them was from the strut tophat so would have probably not known until there was just metal on metal. The variable geometry does a brilliant job of hammering hard bushes as the load isn't spread out across the whole bush but usually only a small portion of it. Its why 80% of mine looked brand new except for the area most of the weight was being applied to.
Could be a good idea getting bushes made up. Whiteline don't want to sell the bushes on their own so a whole new kit is needed. But they do have a limited lifetime warranty on the bushes so as long as you can tell them you aren't 'hella stanced yo' and doing any other weird stuff they will replace the whole thing for free, along with a new zero cost invoice so the warranty starts all over again.

Also over the weekend pulled the engine bay to pieces to do a secondary air pump delete and a TGV delete. Block off plates for the airpump still haven't turned up annoyingly so still waiting for those to turn up before putting things back together.

Well, started her up for the first time after doing the TGV and Secondary Airpump delete. Shockingly, she actually runs, and runs well. Probably all in my head but it definately feels like its revving more smoothly.

Image

Didn't end up putting the drivers side plate on the head itself as it was a pain to get to without dropping the uppipe, so have blocked it off with the same plate at the pipe that used to connect to the solenoid which happened to have the same shape and bolt spacing. When I eventually get round to fitting the new turbo i'll get the plate moved over to the head.

Image

And the drivers side solenoid cut up as the atmospheric pressure sensor needs to be kept to prevent CEL's. I just cut right around it near the top with the grinder and levered it apart with a screwdriver, only the right hand piece needs to be kept and plugged back into the connector then cable tied out of the way somewhere.

Image

Here's the walkthrough's I used to get a bit of an idea what I was doing ahead of time.

Secondary Airpump Delete:
http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/2007-2009-air-pump-delete-cel-codes-and-ecu-fix-140259.html

DIY TGV Delete:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1741045

Airpump blockoff plates:
http://www.kstech.biz/subaru-air-pump-delete-kit-2006-wrx-sti-lgt-fxt/
The existing bolts were too long with these plates so either shorter bolts are needed or just whip out the grinder like I did and shorten them by 10-15mm.

Codes that needed disabling. These are the ones needed for JDM cars, USDM ones had more codes to disable.

Airpump:
P0410, P0413, P0414, P0418, P2432, P2433, P2441, P2444

TGV:
P2004, P2005, P2006, P2007, P2008, P2009, P2011, P2012, P2016, P2017, P2021, P2022

Is there an issue with registration if you delete the air pump?
I want to do mine as its noisy as f*ck, but worried that its a defectable item and potentially unregisterable if you get the wrong inspector that actually knows what theyre talking about haha

Not sure about registration, but it's absolutely detectable.

And since it's emissions related - that could be a nice fat on the spot fine (whatever they are these days $4000-10000?)
