Had a chat today with the guy who has done the rolling road tuning to my car, to see if there are any further changes I may need to make to the fueling of the car for the new sc unit. Looks like a pump upgrade will be in order, will swap out the DW65 and replace it with DW300c nearer the time.

Ok collected the kit today.

This is how the new unit compares to the existing one.

Image

On studying the 2 units i think i will have the existing mounting bracket copied with a few minor mods to allow the fitting of the new unit. As there is no direct drive between the input shaft and impeller a traction fluid is used which requires the use of an oil cooler mounted behind the bumper. Will put up some pics when i get to that part. In the mean time her's a pic of the business end, the unit is fitted with an 80mm pulley which at 7250rpm will supply 16psi. Well lets hope so :D

Had a chat with a local water jet cutting company, they will be able to scan the existing sc bracket and then digitize the image and add in any changes that are required. The most obvious one being the need for a 110mm hole that the new sc mounts into with four fixing bolts. Might also need to put a little more 'meat' on the bracket as the new locating holes will get quite close to the edge. :ninja:

Re: UK Spec B with Supercharger

So started looking at the install for the new sc. As the new sc uses traction fluid to connect the input shaft to the impeller it needs a cooler to keep the fluid temperature down. So first item on the list is the installation of a 13 row cooler.

Image

I think there is enough space if i attach it to the bottom of the bumper bar in front of the rads for the WTA chargecooler.

Image

I then removed all the existing sc stuff to get out the mounting bracket to see what mods will be required.

Image

There are 2 things that need to change straight off. First is the center mounting hole needs to be 110mm and the bracket is going to need a bit more meat on it around the edge to allow for the mounting bolts to connect up.

Made up a rough template so that I could try re-mounting the bracket to see if it fouls anything.
Image

Image

All good on that front. So next i tried the new sc unit in situ to check for any clearance issues. The only thing that may require a bit of metal work is removing some of the inner wing to allow better flow for the pipeage between the sc and the air filter which will still be in its current location below the headlight.

Image

Looking at belt runs now if the belt stays in its current format I know there will not be enough traction for the new unit.

Image

So I'm going to need to move the idler and guide pulleys around to try and achieve 270 degrees of wrap on the pulley. Something like below. I have taken a drawing of the current setup so I can draw out a new setup. Will post those up if I can.
