Good to hear Dan. It is such a good feeling getting your car back on the road after a catastrophe it is almost worth spending the cash just for that feeling :).

Are they rebuilding your engine? You mention shortblock, is something else changing?

Well not technically rebuilding I suppose, just a brand new shortblock in and putting it all back together

Yeah it'll be an awesome feeling when I can drive it again, especially as I'm driving an 02 Magna around at the moment...

No lib for the extra long weekend

Run in done, oil changed and baseline tuning almost finished too. Literally the last couple of runs to finish off the tune when a huge air leak happened, no time to troubleshoot as coyote was going away for the weekend and had already stayed an extra hour to try and finish.

Not sure where the leak is, but a smoke test will be required after the Easter break :(

That sucks Dan but it will be worth it once it is finished. Did you replace any of the intake or TMIC hoses or is everything stock there?

Did the leak just present on the dyno or did Tony just discover it and it was already there (as in from Frenchy's)?

When I pulled mine apart it ended up with an air leak but it was barely noticeable to drive until we picked it up in a learning view.

Yes it does suck, I was really looking forward to bringing it home and driving again over the weekend...

The only non-stock parts are the Perrin MAF + Inlet hoses, think the leak is post-turbo though so if it is it couldn't be them.

The car had done many runs and had spent quite a while on the dyno already as coyote ran it in first and was doing the last few runs after to finish it off. It had performed flawlessly and was running really well (especially on 2+ month old fuel) I was probably 15 mins away from driving it away myself when the leak happened, it was quite loud and obvious and hadn't been there before. Probably something simple and a hose has popped off somewhere but very frustrating to have to wait the long (4 days!!!) weekend to sort it out :(

On a sidenote, I was admiring it on the dyno thinking to myself what a great looking car it is

Yeah the Gen4s are great looking cars, especially with the STI bits. If the noise was really audible, perhaps it was the BOV return hose (the big one) that plumbs back into the turbo intake under the manifold. The one on mind that came off was down low behind the alternator that feeds the MAP sensor and I couldn't hear it leaking. Keep us posted.
