Hey guys,

As I've had the new car for a while now I thought I'd start up a thread. Planning only mild mods to this one, mainly sticking to performance and utility as I think it looks great as it came :D
Wasn't really the plan to buy a new car at the moment, but it came up at a great price (think several thousands cheaper than others) and I knew I had to snap it up.

Its a MY08 tbSTi Sedan with 97,000kms on it, in Obsidian Black Pearl and a 5EAT including the Sat Nav. Fantastic condition, the owner had really babied it and taken excellent care of it.

My one gripe at the moment is that the Alcantara seat inserts look dirty all the time... and OBP is ridiculously hard to keep clean

New EJ257 STI shortblock with Cosworth head gaskets + ARP studs installed 1/4/15

Plans
1. Integrate Bluetooth to the McIntosh system Done 1/6/15
2. Reversing Camera and display to Sat Nav screen Done 1/6/15
3. DAMD Steering wheel (red stitching) Done 12/1/15
4. RDA Slotted and Dimpled rotors and QFM HPX pads all round Done 12/1/15
5. EJ257 replacement engine w/ Cosworth Head Gasket and ARP studs Done 1/4/15
6. Perrin MAF + Inlet hose upgrade Done 1/4/15
7. Tune by Coyote ~135awkw Done 7/4/15
8. Dump-pipe upgrade (CES Racing Twin-Dump) Done 15/5/15
9. Mishimoto TMIC Upgrade (Group buy purchase) Done 14/5/15
10. Re-tune by Coyote (152awkw @ 19 psi) Done 20/5/15
11. XForce Mid + Y-Pipe to STI Quad mufflers Done 10/7/15
12. VF52 Turbo upgrade Done 08/10/15
13. Coyote Re-tune (~162awkw @ 17 psi) Done 13/10/15

Pictures as I bought it:

The battery and ABS covers aren't stock AUDM items, they're a nice little add-on to have though. :)

Nice car man, would kill for some quad tips myself.
Out of interest are the trim pieces either side of the stereo on tbsti's always that darker colour or is that more of a custom thing?

Thanks guys, I love it :D

I did remove the rocks Tim, just after you left too

I had the battery and ABS covers on my old car so I swapped them over, so no they aren't standard.

The metallic grey trim is standard on TbSTi models Andy, its all stock inside.

Goodies are all here ready to go:

After having one of these on my old GT, I had to get one for the TbSTi - expensive Xmas present to myself :D

Cheers mate, I got lucky finding this!

DAMD wheel, rear rotors and pads are on and McGard nuts swapped over. No pics yet as its pouring down rain here atm but pretty happy with it all.

One thing I noticed though, I had a DAMD wheel on my 04 GT and it seemed to be a little thicker and darker than this new one. Anyone know if they've changed their manufacturing process or something, the new one looks cheaper and definitely feels thinner and less quality made :(

There is a difference between pre-facelift and post-facelift wheels - could that explain part of it?

I don't think so, I mean its basically the same wheel you'd think the differences would be minor but the whole thing just looks and feels cheaper.... a bit disappointed really
