Probably DIY - we'll see how I go. The rear is just a centre, I'll swap my gears onto it.

Luckily the 6mt front diff is said to be somewhat easier than 5mt.
Iirc an inch lb tq wrench, mag base dial throwout indicator and diy sun gear tools (or block of wood and a hammer) are the specialised tools reqd...

Don't go extreme cams - it's not really worth it unless you're building a high end track car. Much better for streetability to go mid-end.

My thoughts exactly. Others have just said if going aftermarket I might as well go straight for 272's but the heads flow will surely be the restriction well before a set of mild aftermarket cams.

Picked up a Navigation cubby and test fit my 7" screen:



Fits perfectly - I'll use this instead.

Of course, This means I need a new/different clock, so I need to design one:



The Dash isn't working very well ATM, making sense of the pulses is far harder than I had anticipated, so I have ordered a CAN module, which is also ideal because I can do the clock functions.

Picked up a K2 gear red stitched rear mat from yahoo auctions for about $180 - really makes the rear look great.


Now, time to make that power module. Test fit the components in a box:

Sadly, in testing I realised I've used AC relays - They only disconnect when the load is at 0v - so they don't work. I've ordered a bunch of MOSFETs to do this instead, as well as some prototype board to mount them on.

Time to design a mount for the screen and the pi, etc.






Test fit.. oops, it's .5-1mm too wide on both sides. Time to pickup the dremel again.

Then I picked up an outback bonnet:


And installed it!

Runs very well! Still not ready to fix the power issue due to other priorities, it's 80% IDC at peak currently at 12psi. Gradually working my way down a long to do list of sorting out all the niggly things.

Out of personal / selfish curiosity, may I ask how difficult the bonnet swap was and what the procedure is?

The bonnet swap is literally just undoing 4 (I think) bolts, lifting the bonnet off, lifting the new bonnet on, then doing up the bolts again.

Been busy with family, but have done some things with the car...

First I had to fix my daily - The timing belt tensioner broke and bent all my intake valves - https://imgur.com/a/tsPKE

Added some STi bracing:


Bought a turbosmart FPR 1200

This helped, but sadly didn't fix my fuelling issue.

So I tested:

I even bypassed the hardline:


I was also able to borrow a known good fuel basket with a walbro 460 - same issue, so I can eliminate the fuel pump.

I spent 12 hours detailing the car with a friend - and removed the half bumper for now:



I finally tracked down the oil leak: it's the AVCS cam gears. I stripped off the covers and ran it without accessories just idling and could clearly see the issue:



I've replaced the two worst ones (on the drivers side) but the other two appear to be leaking as well, so I'll have to do it again.

I put on the battery and ABS cover I've had in the garage for ages - it really makes it look much better.
