Looking good. Never actually bothered looking at the bush shapes on my Truhart ones i've still got sitting around, always just assumed they went the other way round with the support piece being for the bump stop.
Did those replacement TGV's you got hold of not have the motorised vane's either? Just the separator plate?

yeah so did I, but I suspect they were designed for an earlier gen which had the bump stop in a different place, but still work fine with the gen4 bump stops - I can't see it being a huge deal.

Yeah the TGVs never had the vanes, just the separators, so no welding/filling with JB weld/blu tac required.

Lucky for you then. Did mine over the weekend, had the vanes though. Ended up just tapping the holes and chucking a hole load of locktight type stuff in with some bolts so hopefully that'll turn out alright.

Thanks mate.

Few bits and pieces.. sorted out the wiring for the gauges, and installed the fuel pressure gauge.
Image
Image

rounded the oil galley plug nice and proper getting it out, but I got it out! Hammered a torx bit into it and it came out.
Image
Image

Decided I didn't have enough projects, so I've pulled out the dash.
Image
going to add an STi logo, 10,000RPM tacho and 300km/hr speedo. Jury is still out as to colour - either staying white or going red like the 2006 TBsti.

Ordered a shitload of wiring, hose fittings and hoses which should be enought to complete the fuel system, gauge senders, and catch can setup.

Also ordered an STi shift knob, and new nappa leather boots, which should round out the interior.

Ordered a pumpkin android head unit which arrived, I'm pretty happy with it so far, but have just done a basic bench test:

Awesome BFYB, I've also got a USB 3G stick for it with a spare sim, so it'll go into the dash, which coincidentally gives me GPS tracking of the car if, god forbid, it should get stolen. It also runs BTSSM for more gauges, so I'll have gauges galore.

Thinking about a beatrush diff support mount.

braided NPT/NPT hose.

Added the audio controls to the wheel:
Image

And started doing the wiring:
Image

I took my dash cluster apart
Image

Image

And designed a new one...
Image

Removed the stepper motor for temp gauge to use as a boost gauge
Image

Tested it...
Image

However, it turns out that in the removal process I broke it. This only took me about 3 hours to figure out, because I've never programmed anything to use a stepper motor before.

The plans are to use an arduino to drive not only the new boost gauge, but a 128x96 RGB OLED which will also be integrated into the cluster for a G meter/GPS speed/whatever else I think of. I have also sold the STi GeNOME boost gauge, going for an OEM+ style interior.

Long time no update!
This was still proof of concept, but you can really see how it's working. I still need to cut out the windows in the final version.
Image

steering wheel and STi gearknow are now in!

Engine assembly

Timing belt on
Image

TGVs were all scaley and ugly, so decided to paint them
Image

Image

Got My IAT bungs, EGT bung and BOV adapter welded up
Image

Realised the JDM twin scroll headers are different and at an angle - my headers were LGT headers with the JDM flange welded on, which also explains the problem I had getting my stupid inlet pipe on - the turbo was at the wrong angle. Probably also explains why the oil inlet cracked. Fortunately Rising Sun Subaru had a bracket in stock, and shipped it to me by the next day for $100.
Image

Got the headers and the accessories on
Image

FMIC on
Image

degreaser gun and pressure wash the engine bay
Image

Turbo on! Had to cut out some of the support bracket for the water line (because it's a garret type core, the water goes in one side and out the other, not like the IHI cores which are in/out on the same side.
Image

This damn bolt wouldn't come out, so I had to get the extractor on it.
Image
Image

Flywheel on!
Image

Gearbox and clutch on!
Image

More work
Image

Uh oh - The oil sandwich adapter with the thermostat is too big to fit.
Image

But if I add a gauge sandwich plate (which I've ordered) it works
Image
Tune is booked in for the 8th Of August, so I'm trying to get everything done!

Still waiting on a new EGT sensor, because I lost the olive from the first one, and adapters to get the BOV return to go in (after which I'll put the intake manifold on)

All the fluids:
