Hi everyone my name is Taylor

I recently purchased a 2007 Liberty GT-B Wagon as my old car was a total loss after it got hit by an out of control car
Insurance paid me out and I was looking at getting a Forester XT as I needed the boot space for work but turned out my friends dad was selling his Liberty Wagon so I went and had a look and ended up buying it.

Here it is (iphone pic):

And here is my old Impreza:

I am fairly happy with my new Liberty except for a few things:
- Stock tune is quite average - car seems to hesitate when on boost during gear changes
- Brake rotors are warped and the brake shudder is scary at times
- The Bilstein suspension is horrid, very noisy and the rear shocks are very sloppy
- The auto transmission is frustrating at times and is in need of a service (wish i bought a manual :| )
- The brake assist gives me the shits! Anyone know how to de activate it?...if possible?
- The drivers seat is broken - one of the corners sinks down when you sit in it
- The worn front window guiding pads have put nice lines in my window tint
- The CD's are stuck in the cd player
- And there are a few rattles that I need to attend to!

Having said all of that I think the Liberty Wagon is a great balance between practicality, performance and style. Coming from an Impreza I really appreciate the extra luxuries in the Liberty I just wish it handled better and was a bit more exciting to drive and that's why I plan on doing the following mods:

Engine:
- SPT air intake with heat shield
- Perrin turbo inlet hose
- Perrin top mount intercooler
- Perrin dual port BOV
- XForce turbo back exhaust
- Fuel pump (if recommended)
- 3 Port boost solenoid
- Tune

Brakes & Handling:
- DBA slotted brake rotors
- Hawk brake pads
- HSD coilovers
- Rear adjustable sway bar
- Anti lift kit
- Upgrade wheels & tyres
- Corner balance & wheel alignment

Cosmetics:
- 2008 front grill
- Front lip
- LED parkers
- LED interior lights

I look forward to meeting you all at cruises and meets and endeavour to keep this thread updated with my progress.

Cheers Taylor

Nice one :)
I have a similar lib and have been through a few of the issues yours has.
The drivers seat has probably popped one of the spot welds: mine needs fixing too.
I can help out with that fix :)

You'll need avo HD rear swaybar mounts from eg tuspeed as well ;)

Welcome, looks like a good starting platform and most of your niggling issues can be fixed with relative ease

Thanks for the welcome

Yes I am sure once I get around to fixing the little issues I will fall in love with my Liberty, she just needs a bit of love and care.

I took a quick pic of the seat this morning, it looks like whatever holds the cushion in place has broken. You can pull the cushion away from the support and when sitting in the seat the cushion sinks in really low. I'm not sure what the previous owner got up to in the front seat in order to break it but I will definitely be giving the seat a thorough clean

Took the afternoon off from work today so decided to get stuck into doing a few things for my car :)

I fixed the drivers seat, put the signwriting on the back window and ended up spraying the front grill just until I can get my hands on an 08 one :P

Here are a couple of pics:

Installed the SPT Intake with heat shield this morning :)
It sounds pretty wicked but it will probably start to annoy me after a couple of weeks haha
Next up is the exhaust! Probably going to go the XForce cat back and then I'll suss out which dump pipe to go with.
I've been quoted $700 for the mild steel fitted and $1100 for stainless.

Took my car to Rob this morning at Car Tint in Ringwood as I needed my front window's re tinted as the worn window pads had made scratches in the tint :(
We went with Onyx 35% scratch resistant tint and it turned out great, a really nice tint that has a very nice clarity.
As per the other reports on here of Rob's service I highly recommend him! Couldn't be happier with his service and the results :D

Also got some dents removed as they were really bugging me. The PDR guy I normally use (Neels from Dent Nemesis) is on holiday in Queensland so I ended up going to see Ian at Dentrix in Ringwood. Was very happy with the results, there was just one dent that he couldn't remove because he couldn't gain access from behind and didn't want to use the 'glue pull' technique. Anyway here are some before and after pics of the worst dent he fixed :)

The next thing I want to get fixed is this scratch that needs touching up/re painting. If anyone knows anyone that can help me out please let me know

Looking great.

Re that scratch it could be a case of an extremely fine wet sand but get a detailers pro advice.

No real updates lately as I have to pay off a couple of things :(
Next on the list is a Perrin Turbo Inlet Hose and XForce Turbo Back - should be able to order them at the end of this month if all goes well.

On another note I got sick of the blacked out grill so I removed some of the plasti around the edges. I think it looks better as the car is cosmetically stock, maybe once I get some wheels and lower her I will re spray it.

Oh and I also tracked down one of the annoying rattles when the car was idling! It was the rear spoiler! So it tightened the nuts and that rattle has gone away...for now

Went for a drive to Kinglake the past weekend and was very impressed with how the lib handled itself  3rd gear is the sweet spot!

No other real updates besides installing these weather shields.

Very nice looking car mate :)

If your auto is still playing silly buggers, I suggest a flush of the ATF (DIY instructions here).
This won't make the shifts sharp and snappy like a valve body mod, or a TCU tune; but it will hopefully go some ways to cleaning things up (if that makes sense?)
