Quick Jab's '04 GT

Postby Quick Jab » Sun Sep 22, 2013 7:45 pm

Well, this used to be The Horizontal Boxer's build thread, but now it's Quick Jab's.
Same (handsome) guy, same car, different user name. The new name is based on my licence plate if you hadn't already noticed.

Completed mods (as of 01/09/14):

- Clarion multimedia unit installed
- 18" Speedy Fins
- Turbo back exhaust: Custom work from Rob Bliss in Brisbane with quad tip mufflers from TCP
- Cyber R Carbon Fibre Ducktail spoiler
- Apexi pod filter
- BC Racing BR coilovers
- DBA T3 4000 front and rear rotors
- Intima SR brake pads
- Cusco sway bars with new front end links and HD mounts at the rear
- LCA bushings
- Hyperflow TMIC waiting to be installed
- STI pedals
- Hydro dipped interior bits
- Re-tinted in Midnight Express
- Refurbished and blacked out headlights with HIDs installed

Planned mods:

- Possibly a larger hood scoop from R Rev Sports (don't like the huge Cyber R one)
- Tune
- Also considering a D type Damd wheel
- Kinugawa TD04 19T turbo
- Probably some other stuff I've forgotten, or haven't discovered yet

Onto the pics!

First lot of pics after purchase:

First cruise! I believe this photo is courtesy of Kody.

Speedy wheels fitted. I'm probably biased, but I think they look tits.

AV panel carbon wrapped

Clarion unit fitted with AV panel. I foolishly left the new silver climate control unit in the car and the guys who did the installation at Autobarn fitted it and took out the blackish one that was in there before. It really stands out in this photo, but usually it's not so noticeable. Will get around to swapping them over again eventually.

Yeah I figured, but when I previewed my post using the img tags, the pics just came up as little blue question marked boxes.

Thanks for the compliment.

Looking good mate, love the colour
I like the speedy wheels, needs a bit of drop at the front though :P
Bit of a shame with the AV panels, the silver looks a bit out of place by itself there in the middle. Keen to see the rest of your mods take place and take a look at the next cruise!

Just picked up my new mufflers, courtesy of Tony at TCP.

The Lib is also booked in to get a custom TBE, plus the above mufflers, installed tomorrow. Can't wait to pick her up in the afternoon!

Thanks mate. It's not just the lighting; I do have a different colour to you. Mine is atlantic blue pearl (or along those lines) 33a.

TBE installed today.

Cheers Dan. The sound is pretty good, but not exactly what I was hoping for to be honest. It's a bit louder than I would have liked, and it'd be great if it was a deeper tone. But certainly can't complain, and I think the Rob Bliss team did a great job for the coin. By the way, the reason my quote was originally much higher than yours, was cause that included Magnaflow mufflers from them, which I didn't end up going with obviously.

The tune will probably come after I get the pod filter on.

Also, has anyone tried plasti dipping/painting this cubby hole piece before?

I was thinking about using gunmetal and then adding the silver metalizer to try and match those fake silver/chrome vertical strips on either side of the centre console. Anyone have any feedback on this idea?

The note will change over the next month or two as it wears in, so hopefully it will end up sounding a bit more like you hoped it would. My exhaust sounds much deeper then when it was first installed, and after about 2 months I started getting a little burble and crackle.

Oh and with that cubby hole section if you get a butter knife on the top join and pull it should just pop off. Not sure if you have tried yet but thought id let you know.

Mods are looking good too =] Wheels suit it well, I quite like them =] Though after seeing them in person at the last cruise I would suggest a re-paint.
Keen to seeing the future updates.

Yeah it'll deepen a little bit over the next few weeks. I thought they must be including mufflers in that quote, because I couldn't see why it'd be that much higher only 6 months after I had mine done. Did they remember mine when you mentioned it?

Did you buy a black AC control unit or did you paint it? It looks good!

Thanks, Jarryd and Dan, glad to hear the exhaust is likely to change a bit.

Downunder, the black climate control unit is what I had from stock. It definitely looks better than the silver one; I just need to get around to swapping them over.

Also looking at that old interior pic I re-posted, now I'm thinking of plasti dipping the double din fascia, as the standard black one does look much better than my poorly carbon wrapped one haha. I'll go ahead and do a trial run with the plasti dip on the cubby hole first, then, depending on how that turns out, I'll look at doing the fascia too. I was planning to do the cubby today, but I'm far too lazy/hung over.

Ducktail spoiler has arrived; just need to fit it now.

I am also in the process of plasti-dipping bits and pieces of my interior.
