Man, I am sure when I went to pick up the set of wheels from Arith and he took me for a run in his [awesome] car he almost complained about his previous setup being too noisy. Oh, how the tide turns - and yes, I am just jealous I didn't see your for sale add first, especially considering I sold my Forester and have a birthday coming up !

Cha-ching !

Numbers wise, I'm sure the most one gets out of any sort of catback setup is 5 - 9 kw. And since more noise = more power, I'm sure the K2's are at the lower end of the increase bracket because they are relatively quiet.

But it's the real world driving perception that I'm giving feedback on. And from what I can feel, the car feels more responsive and has more kick in the mid to high end.

Were the hitechs cat back of diff back? Pretty sure the improved response would be more attributed to the upgraded cat back piping.. of course these things all work better in a system as they were designed too.

Hey before you put the K2's on did you measure the inlet size on the mufflers?

Well, with just the HiTech mufflers only, there was already a bit better response. With the K2 catbacks, it brought even more gain. I guess I was comparing them to the original STi mufflers.

Sorry, no, didn't get to measure the inlet. You might be able to PM Phat for the specs.

Have a video clip of the exhaust from the outside if anyone's interested. Sounds ok from there, but it's pretty quiet from inside the cabin (just a notch louder than stock).

Unfortunately once you stomp on it, the engine/turbo tends to be louder on the road. I also put the GFB BOV back to half atmo so it detracts from the exhaust sound a bit. Just click on the picture below.

Or here's an extended recording from a lower angle.

Unfortunately the only website I've seen so far is the official one in Japanese at http://www.k2gear.com.

I suppose if you don't have a translator handy, you can use Babel Fish to translate each page into English (http://babelfish.altavista.com/).

On full throttle there is no sound of a burble present, but the sounds is like something evil is chasing you!!!! Thats the best description i can give you.

Aw man! That's not what I wanted to hear! But I guess unless one goes the way of a canon exhaust, there's no way to get the same burble at full throttle like a rexy.

the sounds is like something evil is chasing you

I think the same can be said of the Fujitsubo's! Every time I'm behind Phil or Jason, it's like medium noise one second, and then when they gun it it shoots up like +100 db local children playing near by are knocked off their feet.

Congrats, Troy! I hope with your other mods the K2's will balance out the increased noise. I'm actually finding the K2's a bit too quiet at the moment, and have considered going back tot he HiTech's. But the down pipe is going in next week so that opinion may change.

I hope my car doesn't hear me say this, but I like that colour on your car!

Your car didn't but I did...
