Just had a late night sesh with Matt (Kido) and man.. I thought the first tune was great. This second revision completely transformed the car again! The clunkiness of the acceleration engaging when putting the foot to the floor is gone, immediate response! Much smoother delivery and shifting "gears" in manual mode is now more instantaneous. I was told it was approximately 24% more power from the stock figure of 123kw puts the car at 152kw at the motor!!! Taking away the drivetrain loss, I'm looking at about 110-120kwatw Well.. whether it may or may not be truly the exact figures (and we'd never know, damn cvt..) The actual response and delivery of power is amazing and that alone makes this revision worth it.

I found the engine is struggling to accelerate from 50~60 to 80~90 range.
Did you feel any difference after the tune Eric?

Did you have his first tune? Because with first tune the engine did struggle a bit with initial acceleration and sometimes when accelerating from any speed. I will test this arvo on those specified speed ranges. But if i recall correctly from this morning's drive it had no problem with acceleration in the 50-60km range. I'll see if I can do a steady 80 to 90km acceleration on a highway or somewhere lol

No i have never touched the drivetrain side of things.
In case i made it confusing, i meant like from 50 accelerate to 80, feel a bit lack of power unless you down 1 gear.

OK, THAT's it!!, i'm getting it tuned. Matt, when will you be in Sydney next?

I never thought tuning can make such a difference, i think i had to lower a gear and go to about 4000rpm to get that kind of response.
I'll try to test more over the weekend.

on the other hand, i might start regretting not getting a GT in the first place.

How are the reverse lights at night compared to standard halogen?

Feadykin, they're probably brighter than stock halogens, but not as bright as my old T20 cree LED reverse lights were. I kinda miss being able to see behind me in the dark lol

Got my Anti roll kit install, makes a world of a difference. Don't know why I didn't get this done sooner.

just read the whole thread. I like what you have done with the car, I have a NA wagon as well and will be looking at getting a tune too.
how do you find the 2nd round of tuning now after you have driven for a bit..

Thanks Purple5ive. Tune is still going strong. Only limiting factors I could say now is the really soft and slow initial take off as you mash the pedal because of the CVT transmission compared to a regular auto transmission. The other is the motor running out of puff towards the top of the RPM range, you can feel when the torque curve flattens out, but then I think its because it's a non turbo lol.. (Raptor Supercharger please make my dream come true)

Bought a pair of x-force mufflers, It's really tempting to install just the one side.. which I probably will end up doing lol. Also contemplating on whether to order in some rim lips from the states to make a square set of rims or run staggered rims.

So I took the easy/risky way out and decided to run staggered rims. Looks like ass, with the different rim widths and running over sized tyres and sitting fairly high up. But that all makes up for the nice smooth ride and a lot of the bump steer has disappeared! Amazing how much worn out shitty tyres can attribute to a whole lot of bump steer.

Contemplating on whether to go mexi-poke and run 9.5 wide instead of the current 8 & 8.5 and deal with all the problems you get when getting hella flush lol. I was surprised at how "flush" the rims sat in comparison with the slightly rolled guards, I thought the wheels were definitely going to be sunken into the wheel wells.

Kinda happy where it's at the moment. There will definitely be more tweaking to be done to get it sitting right!

Products I used.

Meguiars Gold Class soap, as directed on the back 4 caps to roughly 1 gallon (well.. bucket)
Meguiars Quik Wax with a waffle weave towel
Meguiars Tyre Gel (smells like grapes ) applied with a foam applicator
Meguiars Microfibre wash pad for the body
Turtle Gorilla Glove to wash the wheels

Method:
Rinse car
2 bucket method, started from the roof and worked my way down in levels.

Roof -> Windows, pillars -> top half of doors, hatch, quarter panels and bonnet -> middle of doors, hatch, quarter panels, front grille and headlights -> wheel arches, lower halfs of the door, side skirts and bumpers -> wheels and tyres

By the time I get to the wheels the soap suds would have almost dried (I know thats not good, but being such a large ass car I cant work fast enough to avoid it lol) Look for spots that I missed and re lather those sections.

Rinse off with hose, when dry off with the waffle weave towel with the Meguiars Quik Wax sprayed on the wet surface.

I'd usually clay bar really bad spots after drying with out a quick detailer, but running the towel over the car I could feel all the tree sap, dirt and other shit catch on to the towel and would have needed a kilo of clay to remove it all lol. It's in dire need for a cut and polish. Imperfections are evident if you were to see the car up close and in person, luckily the camera doesnt pick it up

Sadly the roof does have hail damage from that freak storm last weekend. Hopefully paintless dent removal can pop them back out.
