Finally, a new mod!

A while ago, when PSR had a sale, I picked up a Beatrush/Laille under-tray for the car.

I did an oil change yesterday (after the recent track day), and figured it was a good time to fit the undertray too.

Not much to say about it really - you remove the stock tray, install two "risers" from underneath the chassis, a bar across the front to hold the front in place, and screw the undertray to the mounting points.

One thing it doesn't do is come up inside the front wheel wells the way the stock plastic tray does. I'm wondering if this will lead to more water/dirt/crap getting up into the engine bay this way (I can touch the front O2 sensor from the right side now without removing anything, and I may cut up the original front tray (or grab one from a wreck) and see if I can't put something in place to cover the sides.

Otherwise, it looks decent from underneath, and may help tie the front-end together a tiny bit (as it provides some bracing between the front lower control arms):

The round hole is perfectly located to let me drop oil (via my Fumoto oil tap) without having to remove the under-tray - of course, I have to remove it to get to the oil filter...

Purchase date: 14th April 2013.
KM on clock: 80,462

Car now has 112,500kms on the clock as of 1st November 2015 (ticked over today).

Need to start thinking what I should have done when the timing belt service is due (125,000km on mine)...

Start to drop mods from the car.

Exhaust, turbo, Spec C steering rack, DAMD steering wheel all for sale now (check for-sale forums). MY11 WRX seats for sale too if anyone's interested.

Possibly more stuff going to be sold too.

Reason - looking at focusing on a new project. :)

Stock mufflers back on the car now. They're a lot quieter than the STI mufflers (which really let you hear the boxer rumble at idle), though they still let you know when you're going hard.

An Audison AP8.9 bit is being installed next week.

Whilst waiting for the install, I figured I'd start installing some Focal BAM (described by Marty from FHRX as "it's basically DynaMat, 6mm DynaLiner and DynaXorb in the one product").

Any idea how much weight you'll be adding all up with the BAM? Could be keen to give that a go if it isn't too heavy and pricey.

About 3kgs per roll I worked out. That said - the weight is the basis of the dampening effect it has, and is part of what makes it effective.

I think I added close to 7-8kg of dynamite to my car... not ideal, but the difference in sound quality far out weighs the negative.

Apparently it used to be, but Marty from FHRX said that it keeps getting thinner and lighter over time (basically less product for the same money, meaning it's not as good now as it used to be), and he now prefers Focal BAM (because it does both dampening and sound reflection cancellation).

The car is back with the new amp installed, and it's good. :)

Very clean sound. Much better controlled (sounds are sharper and better defined). Distortion is almost totally eliminated.

I'll have to finish putting the BAM onto the car now - the test CD that comes with the Audison 8.9bit makes three of the four doors vibrate - the one door that's had BAM installed doesn't vibrate at all...

Some minor news.

Recorded a number of 0-100km/h runs recently. Best three were 5.20s, 5.25s, 5.50s. I was pretty happy with that.

I have taken the JDM STI rims off the car, and replaced them with MY11 WRX rims (17x8 ET53). They're quite nice. Will be selling the STI rims.
