Hi everyone, my names Aaron from Brisbane, this is my 1st ever Subaru, I plan on keeping it for a long time and doing alot of mods so I thought id join a forum to show it off, ive noticed alot of you guys have newer generation Libertys but ive always had a soft spot for the older ones.

So heres my Gen2 1995 Subaru Liberty LX, not a show car, nothing fancy happening under the hood, stock as a rock... For now ;)
I bought her yesterday from a guy on the coast for $600, towed it back to brissy and have been just pulling apart the interior fixing the horrible excuse for solding with the aftermarket stereo. Havent got any pics ATM except this one but ill keep you guys posted!

Mods so far:
Short shifter.
2 1/2" cat back from an RX, welded to fit.

Welcome!

Looks like she needs a bit of work to get her up to spec but should make a fun little DIY project :)

Good buy.

The Gen2 is a great car to get into DIY on and parts are cheap and easy to get.

Hey guys havent updated in a while heres some clean photos.

Heres some rust a found while washing her, not too bothered by it at the moment, but it is on the front windshield.

Did some electrical work and still lots to go, the stereo wires have been cut right back for whatever reason! Grr

Image

Changed the plugs yesterday, the one on the left is from cyl4 and was coated in cooked anti seize, god knows why. The one on the rights from cyl1 and no that is not oil, its burnt to a crisp.

I also changed the driver VCG which after pulling apart i found it did not need changing, found a missing bolt from the exhaust so i fixed that issue, degreased the engine bay which got rid of a smoke problem i was having from oil being on the headers.

Thats pretty much what ive been up to anyway, next up will be an oil change and a set of tyres then she will be all good to pass a roadworthy and get back on the road!

Oh and because i mever bothered looking when i got the car, i decided to look under her the other day and only just notice she is a FWD not AWD, dissappointing but for $600 i cant really complain, its a car, still in reasonable condition and has still cost me under $1000

look at the bright side: one less system to breakdown, lighter car uses less fuel, etc...

Lol agreed, cheaper, easier to maintain, and FWD skids ftw! On the downside i was really enjoying the idea of AWD grip with launching and cornering. Ohwell :) like i said you get what you pay for and $600 still aint bad for a decent running subaru with fuck all needed for repairing!

Sigh, was very naughty today and took her for a spin, ive driven her before but only short trips, today i took th car around a few blocks and noticed a steering problem, the car doesnt turn unless its almost full lock and at 60km/h it likes to steer itself all over the road... Bit depressing thinking that im so close to having it on the road and them BAM another problem arises

Full lock is a bit much, but i can pretty much turn it til both arms cross over before the car will begin turning :/

Shit.... That doesn't sound good.

Could just need a new steering rack

Did a quick test today, feels low ball joints, tie rod ends.
