Looking good Gaz.

I prefer your old strut brace to STi one. :)

Ummm, I did, yes. Why?

Dangerous, or a bad thing for the car to do?

Thanks Jase! But you cannot say that?! STi one is the bestest.

Trade? 8)

Dangerous! Always use jack stands.

If I can't use jack stands for what I'm doing I use a second jack too.

Edit - nice engine bay, clean.

Yes, yes I did. :P

I covered my ass doing that at least. I don't own or could get my hands on jack stands unfortunately and was just too eager to get them on. Thanks for the good comment about the engine bay. I try not to leave anything out every time I clean the car.

Ha ha, you can say that again! Bloody missions but I'm glad they're out. Just gotta get the paint touched up where they once sat.

So as some of you may know by now, I made my way bright and early to ICHIban to get some much needed work done to my car. The things on the list include:

  • General service
  • Replace my full factory Bilstein suspension with a completely new set of factory Billies, with only approximately 600 km on them
  • Replace my LH front wheel bearing (I have bought one with 88,000 km mileage)
  • Install a Fumoto oil drain valve

This will then lead me onto Pedders in Mascot (or Moorebank), where the following will be done:

  • Replace my lower control arm bushes with new Whiteline ones I have purchased (I have yet to ask how much this will cost me)
  • Get a full wheel alignment

As you can guess, this won't all be done in a day or two but I am aiming on completing everything within the next week. Finally, I am still weighing up on whether I should machine my current brake discs for $40 per disc at All Drive Subaroo or going for Ben's option and buying brand new RDA brake discs for just $90 each, which includes installation. What do you guys think? Only then will I be able to install my newly purchased Hawk Performance Ceramics.

Oh, and after all of this is done, a brand new set of Kumho KU31's will be in the works. Pretty much on the money to getting my car as perfect as possible. I wanted to start with the insides first before going for aesthetics and I seriously couldn't have done it without the awesome members of this forum (and SubyClub)! Thanks to everyone involved so far.

I will update everyone on how it all goes and whether there is anything else I have forgotten to mention.

Here are some pics of the goods:

Dont go to Pedders Gary purely as they overcharge. Surely Ichiban has a press and can do your LCA bushes at the same time as the rest. Better still as they will have one hub off anyway.

I took it to ICHIban on Friday last week. He does have a press, but my control arms don't fit in them so have had to look elsewhere. I have been charged $110 for a wheel alignment there. I may as well just get the wheel alignment done when I get my new tyres. I am hoping to buy a set of Kumho KU31's for $140 each from St. George Tyres, including fitting and alignments.

I assume it's easier/cheaper to replace the entire hub with a secondhand unit rather than replacing just the wheel bearing?
Need to get my front left one replaced too.

It definitely is easier, and in my opinion would be cheaper as well. I managed to get a second-hand hub with 88,000 km on it for just $72 including postage from Melbourne. Makes things a lot easier as you just take the old one out, and put the new one in. No mucking around and no mess.

I did my LCA bushes at work.

$560 for new tyres? For an extra $140 plus courier you can buy my painted Spec B wheels with less than 5000km Federals on them. Sell your rims and your well in front. 8)

Repco charge around $180 for a new hub assembly. 1 x 32mm nut,4 x 14mm bolts and 30mins and your good to go.

I only got charged $77 for labour anyway. Got it all done for a total of $149. Not bad I guess.

Ha ha, I wish I had the facilities available to me otherwise I'd be doing everything myself. When are you planning on selling them? 8)
