Long time since my last post.. lots has been happening though!!
My car was almost completely resprayed a month ago thanks to someone running a key around my car at a shopping centre. Everything was resprayed excluding the roof, tailgate and front bar. Unfortunately the person wasnt caught, so i had to pay for my own insurance claim. Cost of repair was $5,000!!
I bought myself some MCA coilovers, and when installing them a couple of weeks ago, i noticed that someone has hit the front of my car and run. The front bar wasnt resprayed as part of the last insurance claim, but it was fairly freshly painted after the previous hit and run. So needless to say i was hugely annoyed when i found this new bit of damage (photo below).
As a result, i got stuck into researching dash cams. 4 hit and runs in 3 years pushed me over the edge. To get a decent one is a huge expense, and a complete waste of money if nobody hits my car again in the future, but its a risk im willing to take. Im sick of trying to look after my car and having the world do everything possible to undo my hard work. I bought a BlackVue 2CH cam as it has a camera front and back. By all reports theyre one of the best cams available and should last a while unlike the cheaper ones.
I think im fairly happy with the ride height of the car now, although i wont lock that in until the new wheels arrive. I dropped the car 30mm at the front, and 20mm at the rear. Tried to keep the tyre gap as even as possible front and back. In person, the car looks insanely low, but when you see it in the photo below, its nothing compared to some of the other members. When i stand next to the car the roof line is only up to my rib cage. Hopefully when the new wheels go on and the wheel alignment is done, i wont have any scrubbing issues and the car can remain at this height. Im pretty certain it'll be ok. The downside to this ride height is that i cant use my front lip while i live where i live. So thats gone into storage until we move one day.
I also purchased a Stanza hood scoop. After a short 2.5-3 month wait and the worst customer service known to man, i received the scoop this week. Getting it painted in a couple of weeks by the smash repairer that just resprayed my car for only $80.
My new wheels have made it from Japan to Melbourne this week. Currently in customs and i should hopefully get them next week or the week after. Again, another short 3 month wait haha
I bought myself a used set of LED tinted tail lights.. love the look of them on diamond grey in low light photos.
But after putting them on the car and seeing the car in sunlight, all you see is all the chrome within the light and it looks as tacky as a lancer with clear tail lights (see below). So they lasted all of about 1 week on my car and were sold to a younger member that can appreciate them.
Ill post a pic of the car with the new wheels and scoop as soon as i can.. so watch this space if youre interested.
