Oh yummy.!!

I had a black B4 and wanted to do exactly what you have done with the engine work ( had a 2.2 stroker ) and gearbox and your soon turbo. But wife disagreed and i bought a new wrx and hated it. So im back in another lib and im keeping this one to play with.!!

Your car makes me reminisce about my black beauty!!

I forgot to say earlier that the headwork looks like a work of art here mate

This motor should make 350 plus kw atw I reckon with that setup

Has the block been sleeved / close decked?? I hope you haven't skimped out on this bit as it would be a shame not to see the full potential of this awesome setup

My favourite on this forum so far

Mick

No haven't skimped , a Darton sleaved cd block with cosworth internals is next years project , ditching the 208 bottom end biggest priority , I considered doweling the block , but my power expectations of this bottom end of 300 is an easy target , IMO .. The compression should be 8.2:1 so ill be able to wind a bit into her .

Topic
Arp 625 age studs vs cosworth studs
They say the cossie ones are 99% as strong but nearly 180 bux cheaper

Awesome news - cannot wait to see this completed. And you will shit 300 in with those specs. Don't muck around with some shitty expectation. Get some decent fuel into her, tune for timing, turn up the wick and lay down some fat four wheel skids!

As for the headstuds - as I understand it, cosworth headgaskets are similar in composition to arp's 8740 alloy basic style of 11mm headstuds. They're tested to 200,000psi I believe

The arp custom aged 625 studs are tested to 260,000psi and are reportedly much stronger. They're made of a stronger chromium alloy (don't remember the exact specs now will check tomorrow when I get to the workshop)

I would go with the arp 625 custom aged ones personally (but I'm a bit biased ;) ) - for the sake of a couple of hundred bucks I'd rather go with the more solid ones just in case

OMFG.....!! I having to reach for tissues with this thread!!!

Now probably the most important part of the equation.

If someone who cant turn a spanner wants to build just the motor side of things, whats the cost involved???

Hold my breath and waiting for a MASSIVE number!!

motor owes me.. 9-10 alone,

total build - nearly 20 , with gear bag and ecu and all the unseen stuff, -

Motor was/is being built by Rob McIntyre Ex Avo workshop manager , - worked with Danny from springy and phil lowe , Robs actually getting a identical set of 99rex heads done for his GC8

I actually work with Jaydece ( Post Pleb ) but i live in hobart , rob and i are going to head to melbourne in late march and jump on springys rolling road,
