Some more progress has been made over the past few weeks.
CAN bus has now been decoded, so running the Emtron ECU as standalone and the stock ECU has been completely removed.
As such now having some nice features of the Emtron added, and able to use stock switches via CAN to toggle/activate various things. Bit of a work in progress still, but so far have:
- SI-Drive switch set up with some different boost and throttle maps.
- Launch control can be activated, and looks like it will work heaps nicer than the old LC/FFS patch of the stock ECU (i.e. holds revs steady unlike the "bounce bounce" rev limit of LC/FFS patch).
- Anti-lag mode toggle, works similar to the WRC "bang bang" method I think - i.e. when off the throttle, retard ignition timing and inject more fuel, so you end up with unburnt fuel exploding in the exhaust manifold to keep turbo spooled.
I have only tested the LC & ALS while stationary in my driveway so far
- but it sounds fucking insane, like a WRC car.
Still waiting on a few more things, like flat foot shifting and traction control.
Had the car back on the dyno as well, and unfortunately we seem to be maxing out at 380kw atw. Fuel pressure starts to drop, so looks like maybe a bigger pump is needed, or there is an issue with the fuel/return lines causing a restriction and not able to flow enough fuel. Hopefully can address this as there's certainly some more power in it if we can feed enough fuel.
Finally, the built gearbox is still a few months away.
Currently driving on the temp gearbox, which turns out was likely from a MY12 and unfortunately the ratios are different. Pretty terrible to drive, gearing is so tall it feels like the car is geared for a top speed of 400km/h at the moment! (I haven't attempted to test this though
)
