A big welcome to the forum Michael!

Love your choice of wheels and tyres

I too was considering between the enkei raijins vs the tbSTI rims, and went with the latter instead (it was marginal, and preference for a straight spoke design came out on top)

I'm currently looking for a set of replacement tyres, and the Michelin Super Sports are at the top of my list.... but also quite $$$$$$$$$$$ :angry2: Can you share some details on where and how much you got them for?

Any other mod plans on the list?

There a GenV mini meet on the 17th of March (see in my signature for link/details) - would be great if you can make it. With you included, GenV count would be 8, plus another 7 in Gen3s and Gen4s. Great for swapping mod ideas and meeting a bunch of very friendly folk!

Thanks for the welcome!

I got quoted some ridiculous prices for the Michelin Pilot Super Sports over here, especially for 225/45R18 size...

I ended up importing them from the US via Tire Rack for US$241 ea. (they're even cheaper now) plus total shipping for all 4 of US$265. Considering the exchange rate this was a big saving and still fell under the $1,000 amount that would attract import duty/GST (shipping is not included in the calculation). I did the same for the wheels more recently. Both times goods arrived well within 10 working days.

The tyres I actually purchased from Tire Rack in Dec 2011, but didn't need to get them fitted until Sep (eeked out every last bit of rubber from the OEM Bridgestones  ). I've heard however that Tire Rack may no longer export some brands to Australia - don't know if this is true or been verified by someone? If so, I was lucky!!

As for my experience so far with the Michelin's BTW... definitely liking them, they seem very good! :D

Thanks for pointing out the GenV mini meet, I'll check the thread and see if I can come along when it's on...

Yep - still planning some more mods for sure. Performance and handling mostly I think... could do with a tune right now, how did you get yours KiDo tuned? (still new here :? )

Nice ride. Good pick on the wheels, they suit the Gen5 very well.

Thanks, I had considered some Enkei (or other brand) straight spoke of some sort which I think look great too, but figured there are so many of these around already I wanted something a little less common for a more unique look (hopefully)

Welcome! love the envies! they really suit the car.

this is true. but there are delivery companies that let you deliver to an american address from tirerack, then they forward it over to australia as a personal import.

Welcome fellow Gen5'er!

I didn't want to test it myself, but was always curious if gunmetal enkei's would suite the black paint job! Yours definitely does it justice :) Guess I'll have to start looking now.... Damn this forum!

Nice gen 5, the enkei's look nice on the car. I would go coilovers, BC BR are okay and reasonably priced which a vendor sells on our forum (streettotrack), other wise Blitz sell some for $200 more than the BC on Perfectrun.jp, or you could go all out and purchase some HKS Hipermax's haha.. Im looking at the Blitz's, as theyre decent looking, made in Japan and give a considerable drop.

I can definitely recommend MSR for your tuning.
He only works on Subarus and is highly regarded on all Subaru forums.
My suggestion is to get the exhaust and tune done in one go. You'll be stoked. :)

Thanks mate for the advice.

Actually my profile is pending a major update. Just waiting on a couple more things from Garage 88, and for the weather not to be shite so I can wash my car and take some new pics.

Suffice to say I've already got almost ALL of my planned mods above (and more) dealt with already! Car looks, feels and sounds truly awesome now. Seriously felt like a new car when I got it back last week. :D

Will post updates soon...
