It looks like I have blown a head gasket.
Its not critical at the moment but I am getting oil in the coolant and losing coolant slowly.
Its a full engine out job to fix :( :( :(

Sorry to hear Pete,

How many kms has your car done?

Any initial thoughts on the reasons behind this?

125,000kms
Mick says that there are a few ways it can happen.
One way is turning the car off when its too hot.
Maybe i didn't let it cool down long enough after the track day I did a few months ago.

At this stage Mick said it isn't too bad. I can still drive it and i just need to keep an eye on the coolant and oil levels.
I got to get it fixed eventually, I need to have a chat to my leasing company about extra maintenance payments.
$3k to do the head gaskets, another $2k to redo the rings and bearings etc.

as long as you don't get the coolant level dropping to almost empty on one drive and then overflowing when you check it again? it should be fine?

another indicator is milky froth or oil residue rising when you check your coolant reservoir tank

worst one of course is boiling coolant and its spilling it's guts....

Did u detune the tune to make it safe for the track? Aka lower boost? Cause if u didn't? Then I assume that's what did it ......

Oh no!!
So sorry to hear that peter!
I cant believe it costs that much to repair!
I know you probably dont want to think about it now but you should look at the bright side of having the engine out and consider any mods you might want to do while youre at it. Cams maybe?

I spoke to Mick about Mods while the engine is out.
He said that its not worth doing much to it as its at near the limit of the auto gearbox anyway.
He said rings and bearings would be the best thing and that's about it.
If it was a manual I think a full forged motor would be in order.

Well at least the engine will have zero km's on it Pete. Hope that if you upgrade the gearbox/turbo later on the motor will handle the extra neddies.
Cheers

Got Dixcel slotted rotors and pads fitted today at Garage 88.
My front rotors were warped and were pissing me off for ages.
The new brakes feel so much better and produce less brake dust.

Just keeping an eye on the coolant and oil.
It's only a problem when it's on boost.
If I push it hard longer than 60 seconds, the coolant overflows and then it starts to overheat.
I'm trying not to push it very hard at all at the moment.
I'll keep using it until it becomes undrivable or until I have the funds in my lease to rebuild the engine.

Yep, Dixcel ES (extra speed) pads.
They give my lib extra speeding tickets.

Finally got all my dents removed today.
I used Ding King after a referral from "peadya100" (www.dingking.com.au)
It took him 3 hours and he only charged me $250 which is a bargain.
Really happy with the results too.
