You blokes are legends. Thanks heaps for the comments and suggestions. I'll take everybodies opinions on board. Some really good points made and has made me second guess what i thought my heart wanted.

I got to admit though the ultrex rims are hard to go past at that price.

What are your thoughts on the ultrex classics in 19x8.5? Will they fit without mods on stock suspension? Or will i need to neg camber and roll the guards? Assuming im running 225s
Cheers

Will 235s fit without scrubbing?

If the Mrs is not liking the coils, just go 18's, 40 225s.
235s - more grip but comes with more road noise
Perhaps also try some Eagle F1 Asymmetrical 2s for next tire set. They have slightly softer sidewall, good for Mrs approval but grippy too.

CURRENT - ATP GTX 3576 - 22psi - 283.7awkw
OLD - Dom 1.5Xtr - Last dyno 254ahkw, previous 238ahkw, first 224awkw.

I saw these on a Lib over here. They are 18x8.5 +48 so the tyre had a slight stretch on it. Looked mean.

If you get 235s make sure you have your guards rolled first because if they aren't it'll chop up the sidewall on the tires.

I run 225s on 8.5 and the stretch is fairly minimal

Thanks man. There is a special at Bob Janes for Conti MC5 and CC5's at the moment. Do you rate those tyres for quiet and grip? Happy to stick with a 225 if it means avoiding guard rolling. I will add up to a degree of neg camber if I need to.

Cheers Bryce. I really want to avoid guard rolling if I can. As mentioned above, happy to run up to a degree of neg camber but really want to avoid additional body work if I can. So if it means running a 225, then so be it.

I agree, they do look tough. The 8.5 width is whats worrying me though. Even with a 225, surely with a full car load there will be occurrences that the tyres will rub on the guard?

I've had car loads of people and it's never scrubbed in the rear and I drive on some bad roads that are 80-100kmh so you should be fine on stock suspension. I do have it scrub in the front occasionally, if it's on full lock and I hit a bump in the car park or something

That's interesting to know. Im thinking out loud here and perhaps I am further procrastinating but, if I am to revert back to stock suspension, could going the Ultrex Classics (matt black) in a 19x8.5 with a +38 offset and a 225 tyre still be ok with a full car load?

OR

The Ultrex Vipers in Hyper black 18x8.5 +44 with a stretched 225 tyre?

Sorry if Im driving you guys nuts with this. :P

225 on an 8.5 is only a minor stretch and would most likely fit under your guards without rolling with that offset. (don't quote me on that) I think you may need to pull out the plastic arch trim though at the rear.
If you go with a +38 offset you will probably need to do some camber or rolling.
See if you can get the wheel shop to do some test fitting for you.

Im trying to make my car look like a sedan version of Tallis's car

Perhaps worth asking him what his setup is then.

Hmm, seems like too much bother going the 8.5" rim. I might be better off just going for the RS in Matt Black and being done with it. This is giving me a headache.

Not a fan of the ultrex viper but the specs are nice

I wouldn't go with the 38 offset unless you're willing to run some camber and so forth, which is what we're trying to avoid isn't it? Haha

I think with the 18x8 +42 I'd still roll the rear guards at least to be safe

Thanks bloke. You'd still roll the rears on an 18x8 +42 with a 225?

I was going to get the guys who fit my tyres and refit stock springs to align the car with about -0.5deg of camber regardless on both front and back.
