just had a kicker 8" sub installed + some dynamat on the rear parcel shelf.

just from a quick listen sub actually sounds not bad! rattle is pretty much gone too. pretty happy with it!

What model did you get? They seem to have a pretty big range of 8" subs. I am keen to get a bit more kick out of the stock McIntosh system.

Comp 8

http://www.kicker.com/Comp

Its just a basic sub, but that suits the amp specs.
Couldn't recommend enough, doesn't feel underpowered and puts out soooo much more bass than the stock sub.

Got it one off eBay from the US, was about 140 new delivered. Could maybe fish out the link if you cant find it.
Get it installed with some sound deadening, I'd imagine it would rattle like crazy if you didn't.

Does that sub work with the stock amp in the Gen 4's?

Happy with the upgrade on mine. Worth doing if only for the cleaner sounding deep notes. I would recommend doing dynamat or something similar. That way all the parcel shelf rattles go away too.
You'll need to put in a 20mm spacer to clear the boot lift mechanicals. I just used MDF and sound deadening material. Works a treat. Works with the stock amp too. It took about a week to loosen up the sub when you first install it. I was initially a bit disapointed with the result but its working well now.

Would be really keen to hear how the STi springs are. I am still looking into options on my side. Possibly STi or maybe some progressive Kings.

I'll let you know once they are in, they are going on stock shocks.

Really over the harshness of real low springs, the ride height is awesome but the roads around me are shit!

I am looking at doing these on the stock bilsteins too. Not that I am unhappy with the ride, just have slighly uneven stance. The back is lower than the front thanks to rear spring sagging.
