Only the stupid poor people cut springs. The smart poor people compress the springs then weld bolts between the coils. You don't even need to remove the springs ;)

Forget the brand but someone makes wider front guards with vents behind the front wheel. Very expensive though!

Hahaha, I've never heard of the bolts between the coils before :) You could almost get coilovers for the price of a welder though XD

The very expensive part was what I was worried about haha. I think I saw some on import monster once.
I'll see how it goes when it's lowered, I've been told that may make the wheels look like they don't poke as much.
With some luck from my boss, I would like to have the coilovers in by the end of November...

I never thought the mod bug would bite me hard enough to warrant spending so much on the car so soon...

its just an unlucky low offset thats warranting the vast amount of money!

with some negative camber and a little more low they wont stick out as far :)

You're exactly right. I could have gone a better offset, but I'm young and dumb haha. I like the look of camber but I don't want to go too extreme, the tire wear will kill my wallet :(

I will email Kido when I'm closer to purchasing, I've got a few questions about towing with coilovers. Failing that, I'll just have to borrow the sisters Foz when I want to take the bike out XD

Bear in mind you'll get some natural camber when you lower it - plus if you get coilies with adjustable camber tops then fiddle with that and you'll be sweet!

That's what I'm hoping for, not sure how low I'll be able to go with our roads, plus my guards will need to be re-rolled by someone who knows a bit more :/ my parents are still trying to talk me out of lowering it -.-

I will be purchasing a brand new set of coilovers in the next couple of weeks, doing a double buy with a friend hahaha.
Can anyone tell me, when finding the right ride height, do the coilovers have to betaken out everything you make a height adjustment?
Planning on installing with the help of a mate. From what I've heard the hardest part is getting your old suspension out?
Also, I only got a wheel alignment like 200km ago, will I need another?

All height adjustments can be done with the coilovers on the car so its not a real hassle.
And yeah, get another wheel alignment

Love the wheels bro, and the colour combo is awesome!

How'd you go with the coilover install? It's a cinch to replace the suspension components, PM me if you have any questions about removal, I did mine myself with the help of an uncle.

Also, while you have the wheels off and it in pieces check out the rear lower control arm bushes. It's very likely that they've worn out and need replacement.. Look at J-Speed bushes from PHAT GT or for a cheaper option Whiteline have an anti lift kit for about $160.

EDIT - http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_det ... ber=KCA334 <---- If your bushes are shot this is a good cost effective option

Thanks Sean!

I haven't got the coilovers yet, I blew a lot of money on concert tickets :(
Hopefully in two weeks-ish I will be ordering them.
Thanks for letting me know about the bushes, the anti-lift kit is the way I want to go because the car squats and dives -.-
I will save up a bit more and get some to put in while the suspension is off. I may do my calipers at the same time and make a day of it. I'm doing anodized blue for my calipers, I will probably cop a lot of hate but I've seen it done before and I love it.
Don't you need to press them in though? Does that need a special tool?

An update, my lip should be arriving today and I have ordered an STI badge to finish it off.

The old bushes need to be pressed out and new ones pushed back in. Go to Pedders or your local mechanic, shouldn't cost any more than $50

Okey Dokey, update time.

First, I'm now stickered XD

Image

Second, I have purchased a lip. Bit of work has been done sanding, will be repainting and then I'm just waiting for my badge to arrive.

Finally, the XXR's are going. If my current purchaser falls through, I'll put up an EOI for them. 719km have been done on these... 8) Coilovers and Anti Lift kit before christmas with any luck, but may be early January now...

So I'm asking for some help for when I order my new wheels.

Takuma RSOs or RVK's? After seeing Nick's car, I'm in love with RSO's but I'm not sure whether the RVK's would be more unique...

RSO:

RVK:

Annnnd to finalize this post, here's a pic with some massive wheel gap which I know you will all be so jealous of...
