Nice! Always been longing to upgrade those.

Just make sure bushes are well greased, and it's better to keep the sway bar endlinks loose which the car is on jacks, then tighten them when the car is down on level ground. Should be a pretty simple install. Apparently front is slightly more complex, just in terms of manoeuvring it around steering components, I've never done the fronts though.
Good luck! :D

Yeah I only had time to do the rear then went Christmas light looking! Lol

I had a go at the front when I got back but I couldn't get some of the bolts off :/ so Ill leave that for Techworkz guys...

But wow just doing the rear is such an improvement!! Hardly any body roll! I also decided to go right for the harder setting... And I didn't tighten up the end links on the ground so ill do that another time, they won't be going anywhere though :)

Member Profile - Zaccy182 05 GT update 16/1/13

Postby Zaccy182 » Wed Jan 16, 2013 3:45 pm

So a mini update:

Had a pretty nice Christmas :) and a decent start to the new year.

Got my sway bars sorted out on the Friday before Xmas - thanks to the Techworkz guys. The front sway bar is a little tricky to install so I'm glad they did it.

I got to have my first real test of the stop tech brake pads/dba t2s and sway bars on a Rexnet cruise on 22/12. I was near the front, behind a pretty quick lib RS and a very crazy bugeye wrx which was on e85 and stock apart from a bigger turbo/free flowing tbe (and e85 mods, injectors + pump). Anyways the important thing is, I was keeping up and not slowing others down. The sway bars are a very good upgrade for handling (although have gotten quite noisy since). I had next to no body roll from the wagon :D winwin
When we stopped after a short blast through some twisties we noticed that the wrx that was behind me was cooking brakes and mine were fine, no smell, no smoke. I had no brake fade and awesome bite every press, I was getting a little worried towards the end of the slow bends - after flooring it up to them as I could easily smell brakes from in front. Still very happy with my stop techs!

Nothing on the cards for the lib atm. Possibly lowered springs but I'd like to get good ish tyres soon (maybe decent kumos). Because as we were leaving I almost overcooked a bend and my car fishtailed - quite violently lol. I wasn't going that fast but I would say a combination of cheap tyres, the road (hot day), on boost and getting to the limit of my sway bars did it. The guy behind me reckons the rear right tyre lifted off the ground LOL. Anyways nothing broke, no one was hurt and I learnt a lesson haha

Peace

Wow! I've read that RSB on hard setting = snap oversteer... Thanks for the report!

Yeah the rear is on hardest setting... It was a pretty violent fish tailing, really caught me off guard, especially cause it was in the dry. Weird.

I'm probably most happy with my brakes atm. Had to do an emergency stop this morning. A moron pulled out in front of me from a dead stop while I was going 80-90 with maybe 5 seconds of distance... Pulled up quite easy, car behind me thankfully pulled up in time too. This guy was waiting to turn in a turning lane but decided he wanted to go straight and after pulling out he proceeded to putt along, didn't make any effort to get up to speed. Aagh some people. Could have been a bad accident if I had any lesser of brakes/tyre tread.

My initial goal today was to install my intercooler water spray kit but for the life of me I cant get it to fit anywhere in the engine bay except for mounting it under the air intake box (in the empty space where the resonator would normally be) which would have been too much work for what I was bothered to do lol. Went on a cleaning frenzy instead, gave the car some much needed care and attention :D Exterior/engine was just done at a local cleaning place.
Engine bay/cover - cleaned with degreaser setting (left engine running and avoided the intake)
    Cleaned ss exhaust tips/mufflers
Got rid of all brake dust on my rims
Cleaned all exterior using high pressure soap, triple foam brush, conditioner foam and a finish high pressure spray.
    Vacuumed everything inside the car
Cleaned all plastic surfaces inside with Armor All
Wiped all leather with Armor All leather wipes
Cleaned and conditioned the leather seats with Meguiar's 'gold class rich leather' (pretty good product for the price, last time I did the seats was in August and they were still feeling pretty nice even after some hot days recently)

Hide that arch gap ;).

Pity about the spray kit. How big is it?

Did you grease up that sway bar yet ?

Yeah I think I read about cleaning the engine on here or Rexnet but I can't remember. Anyway I gave it a degrease and I was going to leave it but it didn't look right so I did give it a low pressure blast of water too. Feww :D

The arch gap is quite saddening lol. Soon.

The spray bottle isn't that big, it's just a awkward size and the wiring isn't long enough to go from one side of the bay to the other and I'm fairly certain the only space for it is under the air box on the drivers side.

I have to make a trip down to Supercheap for some decent grease. What did you use Hoff? Do your bars get noisy? Also what other handling trickery do you have other then the kidos?

I haven't touched my sway bars yet. I'm still waiting to find out where my job is taking me. I may have to sell my car. But if I get to keep my car the rear sway bar will be changed ASAP along with the exhaust.

My other handling mods are only whiteline ALK and bump steer correction. Since the track day I have also added a cusco strut brace.

It handled so well! Those kido coils worked some magic. I Hope it works out and you don't have to sell it :(

Yeah fingers crossed. I should find out this week.

With the coils set hard it does sit very flat on the road but lots of under steer still. The rear sway bar should help that
